This is my first time writing a review for an app. I don’t want to make it too long, even though there’s so much to say, but I’ll try to make it quick: this app is brilliant. I use it every single day to keep record of my dreams, add dream signs, etc. I also listened to all the meditation bits and whatnot. There’s a paid version that unlocks more of the meditation bits and lucid dreaming guides, but there are absolutely zero drawbacks from using the free version, at least for my needs. There are also no annoying adds anywhere, which is a huge plus. Customer support is also probably the best I’ve ever seen before. I reached out and emailed Shape for some suggestions/questions and got pretty much an immediate reply. If you’re looking for something simple and supportive, Shape is your answer.
its only my second/third day & i didnt have what i would call a lucid dream yet, but i did, for the first time in many years, have moments where i realized during the dream that it was just a dream, which has only ever happened 2-3 other times in my life. i remember thinking specifically "this dream has to be so vivid because of the new app i got" and i got so excited about it in my dream. but it didnt go any further than that level of awareness (like it still didnt necessarily feel real it still felt foggy and i also couldn't control things in the dream) probably because i got through only the intro guide so i didnt even have to really start learning about lucid dreaming yet for this to happen - the features i have been using though are the dream journal, dream signs, and the four notifications per day that tell me to check if im dreaming. this app is especially useful for me because of its built-in dream journal; ive always tried to maintain one over the years but it was just in my notes app so it wasnt easy to remember to do and i would keep losing the habit. but having a dedicated place to put my dreams down, and also associate them with lucid dreaming via having them be connected to the app & not just my notes app, probably helps a lot. also i only found out about this app through Minimal which i loved so you guys should go check out the other apps this guy has made.
I haven’t been to sleep yet so I don’t know it works for sure, I’m sure I’ll forget to update this later though so better this than nothing, but even if I don’t succeed in Lucid dreaming it doesn’t mean that app won’t help someone else. Everyone is different, and even someone who has been able to lucid dream may no longer be able to, or may now be able when they could not before. The other us in our minds is nothing if not fickle, and they take a backseat for most of our lives so be respectful. Your subconscious doesn’t push your groggy morning conscious aside & start eating cereal you don’t like, so don’t just forcefully demand to take control over their part of the day. I know from experience that it has major physiological control of our brain. Make sure it understands this isn’t about not appreciating the dreams it crafts, it’s just about flying pretty much. No need to flood my brain with substance P, I’m still just the co-pilot controlling the stick, you’ll always be the captain, the mechanic, the flight crew, the ground crew & whoever else keeps this thing in the air. I’ve only been using the app for an hour, but based on the minor successes I’ve had with lucid dreaming in the past I expect to be solar-blading down Saturn’s rings with Galileo on my shoulders by next week. Most off the information lines up with what I’ve learned about inducing Lucid dreaming before & the techniques seem like they should help to achieve lucidity. I just hope I can stay asleep after I realize I’m dreaming longer than I have in the past. I always woke up whenever my head in my dream was in the same position as my head on the pillow. Idk if that’s just me but keep that in mind. Try not to align your equilibrium in the dream with your actual equilibrium. Got me every time
