Odysound - Spatial Soundscapes

First off, my soul has been searching for the feel of a Dragon Ride since i picked up the first Game of Thrones book. The wind, the flaps of the wings, the groans and shrieks and roars of the beast that I am on were things I didn’t even know I was missing. The amount of detail that goes into each soundscape is so meticulous and full of things one might not even think of. Odysound truly has something for everyone. Now, while I am a sucker for a good fantasy world, there’s nothing I love more in this world than being cozy. My favorite time of years is Christmas, to be surrounded with family and friends in an atmosphere filled to the brim with love. To be sitting on the couch, under a blanket, while the fire crackles gently in front of you. Laughter, the clinking of glasses, and the murmur of conversation are distant - far enough where each conversation has the privacy they require, but close enough you think you can pick up a few words here and there. Maybe some light white noise in the background from the snow falling. It’s a menagerie of sounds, but not one is too overbearing or out of place. The room is full of light and bright energy, and you know you are safe and loved.

This is exactly the app I was looking for as a long fiction fantasy writer! Before I found this app, I would never write to soundscapes because I was overwhelmed by the choices. Odysound has an incredible, but simple collection of high-quality auditory environments which suit the speculative settings I write about! I also love that you can’t scroll back or forward which make these environments feel more real. I would love to have a few more soundscapes available, because the existing ones are so great! I would also love to be able to listen to the current soundscape even while browsing the menu, which is currently not a feature. It would also be great to be able to organize saved soundscapes. Finally, a bonus feature could be dynamically selecting how low or high certain features are present in a soundscape (e.g., modulate how calm or violent the Pacific is). My ideal soundscape would be one for a setting of mixed water- and land-dwelling creatures who are humanoid. This would sound like aquatic elements interacting with terrain elements, while occasionally delving into one or the other. There would also be elements of nature-based technology in the interacting environments-such as plants trained to open as doors or water currents conveying transportation. This sound world would be incredible to hear come to life!

This app has been immensely helpful in helping me cope with my everyday stress and anxiety. it’s the first thing I open when I’m on my breaks at work and its the app of my dreams as someone who has been looking for ambiences that will really take advantage of the AirPod max spatial audio. Now As for my ideal soundscape, I am so glad they’re interested in more ideas because I would absolutely love to see one of two ideas! (Both would be amazing) firstly! My favorite kind of ambiences are the enchanted forest styles ones. The closest soundscape I could find to that was the runes one but it’s not quite whimsical and soft enough. I like the sounds of the little magical sparkles passing by your ears so having a whimsical enchanted forest sounscape with fairies flying around, soft sounds of the forest, a gentle stream, crickets, and possibly the sounds of more creatures or magic being cast would be so cool!! My other idea is another cyberpunk/futuristic style soundscape! I really like both Tokyo 2070 and Paris 2070, but It would be cool to have one similar to Tokyo 2070 but where you can here the sounds of the cyberpunk city from inside a room! As if you’re near a window. Maybe some rain to add to the vibe, and have some sounds coming from inside the room that way the noises aren’t too isolated to one side. (I say this because I secret just want a soundscape thats inspired by coruscant or makes it sound like you’re living there bc I love starwars LOL) but that’s what I got!
