Best feature for me was the app sending a text when it was time to test 1hr post meal. This kept me honest, chasing 2 other kids I forgot a lot by accident before I had the app. Also awesome is the ability to easily export glucose results to print out for my doctor to see as well as to review myself in nice charts etc to get an overview for how I was managing at a larger scale. This app 100% enabled me to be successful in controlling my blood sugar. I really liked the meal analysis tips where you type in what you ate in a super simple format like “cheese stick, chicken, peas” and it will tell you something like “your meal contains protein, carbs, fiber and fat, try adding x for more balance” Highly recommend this app!
My doctor recommended this app after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. So far, it’s a pretty good app. Things I like about the app: Easy to use. You can post pics of your meal and calculate the carbs. The calculation isn’t super accurate but I think it does a pretty good job trying to get as close as possible. Things I don’t like about the app: - It takes too long to sync and upload your entries. After you submit an entry, I find the “helpful tips” section annoying and unnecessary. I just want to “save” and move on with my day, I don’t want an extra “continue” button. Tips and treats should be placed somewhere else for those who do want to read up on improving their diet. -I like that the meals are color coded based on your glucose results. For example, if you’re within range, your entry is green. If your glucose result is high, your entry is red. -I work night shift so I sleep the opposite schedule. I can’t list my “fasting” glucose because it’s actually considered “pre dinner,” so under entries, it doesn’t show up accurately. It would be really helpful if all your entries are listed under progress and not set. Fasting doesn’t always have to be the moment you wake up in the morning. It should be named “fasting/pre-breakfast.”
Honestly this app has really saved me from getting onto medicine to manage my Gestational Diabetes ! When I found out last month that I had GD I was shocked but not too surprised. My forestpregnancy I ate like a rabbit and didn’t have GD , but with this pregnancy, I ate WHATEVER I felt like and whenever I felt. I was eating Pizzas, cheeseburgers, pasta, etc. and wasn’t really mindful of when and how much I was eating. After getting the news about the GD I was determined that I wasn’t going to need medicine (even though my mom had GD and now has type 2~ I believe it’s because she didn’t have an app like this)! This app has been helping me track the times I need to measure my blood sugar as well as log my meals, snacks, medicine etc. I would say the only thing this app is missing is a water tracker and fitness tips. But other than that I’ve been keeping my numbers in control but seeing what I eat that would spike or decrease my numbers. Once I understood the trend of how my body works I now know how to manage my health for my self and my unborn growing baby. I’m very grateful for this app and Thank God that this app is specifically for Gestational Diabetes (not just regular diabetes) Truly grateful for this App ! 👏🏾🙏🏾
