Drastically improved my A1c

I used this app for 6 months last year and it helped to take my A1c from 7.6 to 5.3. I learned a lot about food and how each meal item affects my bs. I made tweaks and changes along the way to fine tune my glucose control. I took a break over the past three months to put into practice what I learned and was able to maintain my A1c at 5.6. I am back to using the app again to assist with weight loss and blood pressure goals I have set for myself. In doing so there are a couple things I do wish could be added and improved upon within the app. #1. I would like to see fiber per day/meal, maybe within the ‘Insight’ tab. Best I can get in the Insight tab is 1 week average. #2. Improve the photo estimates option beyond 3 items. My meal last night had 5 items (smoked brisket & turkey, collard greens, green beans & 1/2 Texas toast). It populates 3 items then gives suggestions on the remaining items to add. BUT when you add a suggested item it will delete a one of the three populated ones. Why not just be able to add the suggested item to the populated ones? I find this to be frustrating and don’t typically use this feature because of this. Beyond these two items the app is easy to use and I recommend it to others all the time in my online diabetes groups.

Not Consistent

I am absolutely disappointed in this app. This app continuously doesn’t save entries I put in. It’s almost on the daily that I enter a dosage & when I go back to check what time it was at the entire entry is gone. I’ve already left this as a review & they emailed me telling me to track when it doesn’t do it. I don’t have time to do that. The whole point of paying for this app is so it tracks so I don’t have to track. Not only is this a huge disappointment & inconvenience, but it’s ridiculous. I am making health decisions based on what I track here & now I have no idea what time or what amount my dosage was because it doesn’t save my entry. Why is it that an app like Snapchat, I could take a Snapchat & not have reception for 3 days and it still saves my Snapchat, but here is I don’t have service it won’t even let me make an entry & if I do have service it doesn’t even save it at least once a day. How does this not have an auto save feature no matter what, where it can upload later if for whatever reason it fails to upload the first time. This is a safety concern. Not to mention, the whole reason I even initially signed up was because it advertised that it will track patterns & give me advice, it hasn’t done that once, there’s been no patterns tracked or advice given to better manage my diabetes. To charge that much for an app & have it work this poorly is crazy work.

I love my SNAQ!

I’ve been a T1D for 51 years and have tried countless carb-tracking apps. Recently along came this weird app called SNAQ! I downloaded it and was impressed right away. The feature in particular is the running graph that shows my line of blood sugar numbers throughout the day. I plug in my meal to get the carb count, then go to my pump or t:connect on my iPhone to enter the carbs. I let it figure out the units I need, press either button to administer insulin, then go back to SNAQ & record that number of units. I also report any Activity I’ve done and write in the Notes any special data I want pertaining to my diabetes that day. The only issue is in recording the amounts of different food. Right now SNAQ takes only the scale weight, not fluid weight or measuring spoons. Nevertheless, their customer service is quick to respond to emails and I believe they are working to be more user-friendly. More importantly, I have been most often right on target with my numbers since using SNAQ.
