Alright this is worth more than one star I only gave this that in hopes of getting recognized and maybe even doing this. Alright enough intro, I’m here to tell you that this app is great playing you Xbox in multiple places around the house, note around the house, you have to be on the same WiFi network in order to use this app this is still usable but very limited as if someone really wanted to they could move their Xbox to a different place on a different tv. I’m becoming slightly worried that this app is becoming useless as Xbox has now introduced a new beta platform that streams your Xbox games anywhere and is planned to be on iPhone soon, although the interface of this is just a selection of different games not like this where it is the entire Xbox platform on your phone, this still has a chance, but keep in mind if I was given a choice between the two I would choose the Xbox official because two major reasons, it is free and it worked anywhere. I know this type of thing works too as it is done for free on PlayStation but not here, as of now I don’t believe this app is worth 12 dollars I would say it is worth 3-5 dollars if this app were able to stream wherever then this would probably be worth more than 12 maybe 20 but that is not what is happening this app I feel needs an upgrade I want to be able to use this wherever I don’t want this app to become useless, thanks for listening to my rant and who knows this might happen, anyway thank you and hope this happens bye...
I got this so i wouldn't have to move my system from one room to another. Its pretty straight forward and simple to setup. Basically it views a live cast from your console with control overlay on the screen. It works surprisingly good! I have the system hooked up to a fios gigabit ethernet connection and a iphone xs max or ipad air and it runs very smooth. I can even hook up a wireless bluetooth controller xbox or ps4 and it does a very good job of controlling the games. My only hope is that it would come to the apple tv. I can airplay to my apple tv and its ok but there is quite a bit of lag especially in sound and made it difficult to play fps games or things that use fast movements. It still wasn’t bad i could manage but it could be better. All in all tho, for $12 im not going to complain much. If the developer could bring this to apple tv and make it run as well as it does on ios for tvos that would be amazing! Then it could run off an ethernet wired connection and watch on tv basically like a remote system, kinda like pstv... but so much better.
(TL;DR: Implement controller start/select support properly and allow touchscreen interaction(rather than start) to bring up the UI and you’ll have a perfect app and you’ll earn that fifth star from me.) Now that I’ve been spoiled by the convenience and surprising graphical power of my Nintendo Switch, I find it inconvenient to be bound to the living room TV when I play games. Being able to visit my current fantasy-world anytime I have a few minutes to spare helps to keep me wrapped up in that world and lowers the chances of my setting that game aside for a week and losing touch with the place in my brain that lets me truly vanish into another world. I nearly lost my fascination with Red Dead Redemption 2 before OneCast came to the rescue. A few hundred hours later and I’m still wrapped up in that amazing world and I’ve spent about 80% of that time playing on my iPhone with an Xbox controller. I also utilize the Steam Link app and couldn’t be more thrilled. My only complaint is the requirement to utilize the onscreen Start and Select buttons. For heavens sake, you hit the start button to bring up the onscreen start button. It’s silly. Red Dead Redemption 2 requires you to hold start to bring up the map and to hold select to initiate automated travel. You need to utilize these functions constantly and it’s very frustrating to have to use the onscreen buttons. Implement controller start/select support properly and allow touchscreen interaction(rather than start) to bring up the UI and you’ll have a perfect app and you’ll earn that fifth star from me.
Transform your iPhone or iPad into the ultimate Xbox companion with OneCast. Whether the TV is unavailable, you're craving the comfort of another room...
