Tap Tap Fish - AbyssRium

It’s been a while since I found a phone game that felt like as much of a labor of love as this one. Tap Tap Fish AbyssRium is such a relaxing game visually and has so many varied fish for you to collect. Even better, the fish you can only collect for events are brought back for later years so you’ll never feel like your collection is missing permanently like some other apps. Event fish aren’t just pallette swaps either, care is put into them and they all look not only distinct, but on theme, and great quality. The app has a handful of downsides but most of them aren’t worth bumping the stars down. The AbyssRium has quite a bit of grind, but not so much that you are stuck unable to do anything. Most of if not all of the high tier fish will only be feasible after several weeks of casual play. But that time can be spent taking photos of your fish or leveling your corals. Additionally, there is a decent amount of paid for content, all of which is quite expensive. Single fish being in the 10$ range comes to mind. Still it’s hard to argue against buying a corgi with a sandy cheeks helmet on for your ocean. Lastly is the unlock requirements for a few hidden fish. They can be found online, but are only barely hinted at in game. “That left hand corner is fishy” doesn’t exactly let you know to press it 4000 times. Regardless, it is a wonderful game and great for killing small amounts of time throughout the day.

I have been a long time Abyssrium player. I played for a few months a while ago, and redownloaded it in February. It is SUPER fun and addicting. The events add a lot of cool and unique fish. I do have three gripes about it, but overall, definitely a 5 star game. The STRIPED MARLINS, and all the other fish with identical mechanics. Still have yet to see them, and since you need them to complete collections and collect the 1000 year old Blue Whale, I think they definitely need to appear more often. The HIDING FISH. They take FOREVER to get, and youre either pouring in tons of materials or tons of event currency to get them. 70+ tries for each fish???? That's crazy. I think there should be a vitality option, AND the chances to get each fish should be adjusted. The FUSION BUG. I see a lot of people have been having this issue, where they make an event fusion fish, resources are consumed, and no fish is made. I had the same problem, I reached out to the dev team, within a day they responded and then shortly after, refunded my resources! I was very pleasantly surprised by their response. Overall, no game can ever be 100% perfect. Abyssrium gets close!

The game is awesome, cute, and serene, the concept is simple and unique, and the fish skins are silly and creative. But I see improvements. First, I’ve noticed some weird glitch. Sometimes when my fish go in the hole in the corallite, they come out through the stone. Like, not through the hole in the back, but through the walls. It makes sense for the ghost fish to do that, but still. Also, I’d like to personally manage fish, and not just modify active fish quantities, but give them customizable name tags, so I could name my 20 BLT fish (no joke LOL) different names and be able to tell them apart. I feel this would have players more emotionally attached to their fish and therefore play the game more often. I’d really like that feature added in, and I bet lots of other players would, too. Finally, another thing that would be cool to put in is to modify specific fishes personalities. Do you want these fish to school up, or not? Do you want to set this fish a certain swimming path/routine? Or do you want your fish to be all antisocial emo fish and never leave the cave? I think these name tag and personality concepts would really add a lot more control over players’ aquariums and add more detail to the game. Thanks for reading my review.
