Siralim Ultimate

Update: I’m now around 15 hours in and it’s still awesome. If this sounds vaguely like something you’d enjoy don’t let the price stop you. This game is just so deep it’s hard to put into words. Original review: I came to this game from slay the spire. Was looking for a strategy game with persistent character to advance. I initially dismissed it based on price and it sounded like the old Pokémon game. But honestly this game feels more like slay the spire mixed with something like Diablo. It is turn based which is great for this kind of game. But I’ve turned into a zealot telling everyone I know that’s it’s worth buying. I’ve got maybe 5 hours in and it does take an hour or two for it to click. My only request is that you could save the game mid-realm (dungeon) and have a more detailed breakdown of a battle to see all of the effects happening. But this is worth getting!

75 hours in on one single save and still counting strong. I haven’t even scratched the surface, yet. Been through a few different builds already ( probably why I haven’t made it crazy far but I’m not complaining AT ALL ) and the customization is insanely well thought out. At first when I got the game I was put off ( not sure why, thought it was shallow ). Put a bit of time into it this time around and found some seriously deep mechanics and roots in the game. Now I can’t put it down! Highly recommend if you like playing with different builds ( there are sooooo many ) and power creep. The grind feels good and you can change the difficulty of your realm runs at will. The more difficult the more rewarding, staying alive longer and not wiping also lets you real greater rewards. Got a super powerful trait early on in the save. Converted gear with trait equipped into resources because I didn’t know you could hide different battle texts and I thought it made battles take too long. Using build that ACTUALLY scales well with said trait now, with minion battle text hidden making battles happen much quicker. Been pleasantly grinding to try and randomly win another one because it would literally be the cherry on top to my necromancer build. Cry in the shower.

Born in 87, I got to see it all; the wonderful DnD like/RPG standards set, to Pokémon taking the world by storm upon its’ release. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been along for the entire ride of Siralim’s saga. Each iteration feels more polished than the last. Every game has introduced more mechanics, while expanding on the fascinating and charming lore of the series. Siralim Ultimate lives up to its’ name - Ultimate in the sense of the Siralim experience in its’ entirety. The different realms/worlds (that are randomly generated EACH visit mind you!) are nice for their variance. Progression doesn’t feel like “you finished a goal”, but something more fulfilling. You feel accomplished. Seemingly overwhelming at first, the game mechanics have been refined even further. The effort that went into this game is clearly reflected by the value you get out of it. The thousands of hours that are possible make this probably the most underrated, valued gem in the genre’s history. Please support the developer. For those who are wondering - the cross-platform/cloud saving feature works FLAWLESSLY. Transfer your save from PC (I play on Steam), to iOS seamlessly, all in game. Siralim Ultimate has undoubtedly raised the bar in the monster catching genre. Best described as, an “adult-oriented” Pokémon like game (in the sense of catching/collecting and fighting a team of monsters), with a heavy dose of RPG elements. You will not be disappointed at any price. This game is easily worth double whatever price you’re looking at right now!!
