A game to love

This game is uplifting and positive in so many ways. It totally respects your time. The difficulty level is customizable. Many enemies can be skipped if you don’t feel like fighting. Meaningful drops are frequent. Save can be made at any point. You can replay with your fully built-out characters. It’s perfectly fun without the DLC but larger and more varied with. The dev clearly cares about his customers. Mechanically, it’s a standard rpg adventure with many familiar tropes. Nothing really new here, but competently done. The humor is corny and there’s plenty of it, but so good-natured it’s not annoying. The art style is on the cutesy side but clean and professional. The map is generous and there’s plenty of player choice. It’s just a good time all around. If you only like dark and serious games, this won’t be your cup of tea. But if you enjoy a romp with a carefree atmosphere, give this a shot. It will put a smile on your face. 😊

Love. This. Game.

I may not have that much gameplay time on the IOS version, but I played EBF 3 and 4 a bunch; and I have at least 20 hours in the desktop version. I positively love the series, references, silliness, music, and the developers. This would always earn a five star from me. Only thing I’m wondering is an issue with the sound. There is this odd audio skipping, I don’t know what else to call it, that happens with the music. There’s occasional moments where it really does just sound like a skipping record with brief bursts of static in those skips. It’s happened to me on all forms of audio, and I have to wonder is it because of my phone model? I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max; so I’m sure it’s possible that the issue is related to that. Otherwise, I’m clueless. Still love the game though! Just wish the audio wasn’t skipping on the music; because I’ve always loved the EBF music.

One of the best RPGs

I have been a fan of this series ever since finding the 3rd installment back when it was new on kongregate. Each new game continued to impress me, and this one is no different. I have over 140 hours on the steam version of this game, and can say it is easily one of my favorite RPGs I’ve ever played. The combat system is truly refreshing, offering many different strategies that are all viable. The characters interact in fun ways that make the party feel more alive and dynamic. Plus, there is so much content to this game. For free, you easily have dozens of hours of content, with the option to purchase extra content that adds on dozens of more hours. Also, for those that like a more challenging experience, there are tons of difficulty options and very satisfyingly difficult bosses, especially in the extra dungeons and beyond. Overall, a terrific game with a passionate developer.
