Sunlighten

I got my sauna about 2 years ago and was happy to see an app for it. Unfortunately, it was terrible. It had trouble connecting from the next room let alone from outside the house. It couldn’t control the lights effectively and so I gave up. Deleted the app and just used the wonderful sauna manually. Fast forward to today 2/26, and I went down for a sauna and there was a tablet app update. I loaded it and it wanted to connect to my app. I uploaded the app and noticed immediately that things are different. The app is much smoother. You can actually turn the sauna on from miles away and the both the sauna and color lights can be turned on as long as you leave the color lights on on the tablet and turn them off with the small chromo remote. If you haven’t tried the app since 2025, you should now. It’s all that we’ve been waiting for.

I love having my Sunlighten sauna at home. It feels like a luxury experience and the convenience of not having to go to the gym makes it much easier to use consistently and enjoy the benefits. The built-in tablet is easy to use and a great feature. I can log into preloaded apps to watch shows, connect to Bluetooth for music, or take phone calls, which really enhances the experience. My biggest frustration is the Wi-Fi and app functionality. I agree with other reviewers who are frustrated by the inability to connect to or start the sauna when not at home. At this price, remote start feels like a reasonable expectation, especially since many other home devices (like tvs, fridge, stove, washing machine, robot vac, etc) allow true remote access, so the technology is out there. This should have been disclosed at the time of purchase. I also notice occasional subtle creaking sounds when sitting inside. It looks solid overall, but the noise slightly detracts from the premium feel. Overall, I truly love my Sunlighten sauna and the convenience of having it at home. Adding true remote start capability and addressing minor build noises would make it an even better experience.

Our sauna is awesome (when it works) but the app and accompanying tablet are absolute GARBAGE. Literally the worst app and tablet experience I’ve ever encountered in all areas of technology. My biggest regret is going with an MPulse sauna that has the jankiest tablet (and app) because the tech is in perpetual limp mode. Sunlighten is impossible to connect with and when you do, they are slow to fix a problem, if they fix it at all. When I politely commented on Instagram about the app needing updated, they reported my comment and had me put in Insta timeout—no joke! That was an easy account to unfollow! The “scheduling” feature on the app is a joke as it doesn’t work, even if you’re sitting in your sauna, not to mention on the way home or something when you might want to heat up your sauna that takes a minimum of an hour to reach half capacity. I say half capacity because our sauna does not get over 146 degrees even when heated for 4 hours, which is ridiculous. In order to use the app, you have to be sitting close to your sauna and make sure the tablet is on and the application is running. That’s the only way the app even works, which is obviously totally useless. I wish I’d known about the outdated, cheap technology and customer service of this company because I would’ve definitely made a different choice in selecting a sauna. Also, how does this app have a 3.7 rating and show way more 5-star reviews than the DOZENS of 1-star reviews?! Something is definitely not right there—buyer beware.
