Update: the bug I mentioned has been resolved! I’ve banked with Woodforest for well over a decade now and have never had complaints. The app isn’t the most sophisticated with hundreds of options but that’s most of the reason I like it - it’s easy to use and uncomplicated. My only complaint is one I’ve seen in a ton of other reviews - there’s a bug that results in my first log in attempt to fail with a pop up saying my session expired and another saying I failed to log out. So far, my 2nd attempt has always succeeded. It’s a minor inconvenience that adds less than 15 seconds to the process but it’s been months and there doesn’t appear to be any fix coming anytime soon. What makes WF stand out above other banks is the staff at branch locations! They’re always great! The staff at the one I visit most often goes well above and beyond! They know our names, are always happy to do whatever it takes to help, and left me speechless the fist time someone called to let me know they’d noticed our account was about to overdraft and they just wanted to let us know so we didn’t up paying fees. Since then, I almost always get a call any time they notice something out of the norm and even to let me know the line of credit we applied for was approved before the letter was even sent out. That kind of service is so rare these days, I haven’t been tempted to change banks even though other banks don’t charge the fees we pay at WF.
I’ve been a WoodForest customer for almost 6 years now. I began banking with them due to their pre-covid opening hours of 0700. Because I work night shift I was attracted to not having to stay awake until 10:00am to bank, but the post- covid hours are a complaint. The staff have always helped me as needed and I’ve never had a problem with the app and it’s functions. Now that you can make deposits and immediate transfers via the app the bank is more functional and I’m happy enough to not make a change. I do wish they would open some branches with drive through options, but again, I rarely have to visit an actual branch so am happy staying with WoodForest National Bank for now. One unknown concern of mine if the amount of time it would take for an app deposited check to clear verses clearing immediately if I visit an actual branch. One thing I love about WoodForest National Bank is that if your a good client whose never overdrawn they’ll clear checks immediately and make funds available for you to use. My most concerning complaint is not being able to get assistance over the weekend with stopping an account or debit card due to no customer service representatives being available. This should be standard procedure for all banks because most theft of bank accounts or debit cards happen over the weekend when thieves know the victim can’t get an actual bank representative til Monday during normal business hours. But, for the most parts I’m happy with WoodForest National Bank.
I have banked with Woodforest for almost 20 years, and they have an excellent app with a lot of really convenient features! I check my balance and transactions regularly, and I am able to take a picture of my check to deposit it through the app using mobile deposit. I pay almost all of my bills by using bill pay, and I can easily make transfers back and forth between my accounts and line of credit by using this app. I have a low balance alert set up so that it will send me a notification when my balance gets to low. I can even check my credit score for free! The app also has this new P2P feature that I love. It allows me to send money to my family and friends for free no matter where they bank just by using their cell phone number and a security question/answer. Oh, and I can also turn my debit card on/off in the app. That really gave me peace of mind when I accidentally misplaced it a few months ago. Thank you for all these free features! 5 HUGE STARS, Woodforest!
