I have an autoimmune disorder that causes anxiety and chronic insomnia, so falling asleep at night is often a challenge. My mom recommended this app to help me relax, and it’s honestly been life changing! There’s a wide range of sound options, from white noise, brown noise and rainfall to café ambience, parks, piano melodies, and even unexpected ones like a grandfather clock or dog barking. After testing out a few, I found one that works perfectly for me. Airplane Cabin! It’s incredibly calming and has become part of my nightly routine. I even use it while traveling. Silence is just too loud for me, and this sound helps create a consistent, comforting environment. I also appreciate the built in timer feature. I set mine for around 9 hours, and love that the sound gently fades out instead of cutting off suddenly. It helps me stay asleep without being disrupted. Beyond sleep, the sound library is super versatile. You can easily use these audio clips in creative projects, like videos or school assignments that require background sound. It’s a small detail, but really adds polish to media editing. Even though I mostly rely on one sound, this app has had a huge impact on my quality of rest. I highly recommend it for both relaxation and productivity.
I’ve used this app for ages, to provide white noise while I sleep. I love that you can create mixes of any sounds and I have a preferred mix I use nightly. That said, I have one big problem with the app, and that’s the incredibly tiny Play button. I have to put my glasses on and be really careful every time I hit it, because it’s so easy to accidentally pull up some random sound I don’t care about in the options near the button, which is much smaller than a human fingertip. Why so much screen space devoted to other sounds you may or may not want to listen to? The default screen should just be a big play/pause button, for the last mix you used. Yet every time I open the app, the only thing I see is a long list of “new releases” and “recommended for you” sounds that I will never listen to. And below that, in a tiny little strip of screen real estate at the bottom, is the only bit i care about, the little play button. The on/off functionality of the app is one of the main things you use it for, so the button should be prioritized visually. This seems like such a simple and obvious fix, I don’t know why it’s never been done. Tiny play/pause buttons are a pet peeve of mine in the first place, but especially for an app that you use when you’re likely to be half awake or not wearing your glasses. Cmon guys just make this one basic change, it’s a good idea!
I had originally gotten this for the usual white noise to help me sleep in overly quiet rooms, etc. But then I found the ultimate use for it. I have a small townhouse yard that is a beautiful patio and garden space, complete with rock fountain. But because I live close to an interstate, it’s impossible to completely block out the sound of traffic despite the sound barriers. So I finally discovered the mix feature. (Where have I been?) I run a Bluetooth speaker, and suddenly my yard transforms with the sounds I love from a lifetime of outdoors and camping. I layer in katydids, frogs, a gentle stream, maybe some distant thunder. The distant cars disappear and my yard feels kind of magic. My 15 yo daughter loves hanging out there too. Sometimes I switch it up to an oceanside theme; possibilities are endless. The mixes are insanely easy to make and each sound can be individually adjusted for the right volume. The annual subscription price is nothing for the best sound machine out there. My only complaint is that I wish some of the animal/insect loops were longer. Some of them (e.g frog sounds) can sound obviously repetitive on such short loops. But for ambient sound that you’re not actively listening to, it’s brilliant. This app is awesome!
