Worst customer service experience of my life. Had to use this app to set up internet in my new apartment and my appointment details were ALL wrong (they were inputted via the updater customer service person, who confirmed 6 separate times on the phone with me the correct details - it blew my mind on the phone how many times you would need to confirm information, AND IT WAS STILL WRONG!!). I realized after the second automated cancellation email from quantum fiber that something must be wrong. Then I corrected the details, but since the service was billed through updater, they did not confirm the appointment I had made, and once again I found myself getting automated cancellation emails. I then cancelled the service altogether and realized I could buy the same service direct from QF from $10/month cheaper. What a scam of a service, and what a horrible experience for someone working from home. Would not recommend this app or service to my worst enemy.
I can’t even tell you how useful and easy this app is. They’ve basically consolidated all you need to move in an incredibly user friendly interface. No having to do extra digging because the link provided doesn’t take you exactly where it says you would be. No more navigating multiple sites and trying to keep things organized. And what’s more incredible, is that the app even provides specific-to-your-location information. For example, it provides different internet provider options based on where I’m moving and other people who have lived in my building. This gives me so much peace of mind, I can’t rave about it enough.
It’s that time again when I move out of an apartment and I start getting emails to sign up with updater. First of all, the emails are misleadingly titled confirm your move when in fact they are getting you to create an updater account and heaven help you if you start that process, I already got two emails today and unsubscribed twice. The arrangement seems similar to how apartments have a preferred insurance provider that costs a lot more than alternatives so I don’t expect good deals from updater and in fact the ones I’ve seen are inapplicable to me since all I need to do is turn off utilities and its faster to do that on the utility websites. By the way, it seems to me a privacy violation by the apartments when they hand out tenants information like this to other companies, probably for cash. Finally, I’m suspicious about the preponderance of five star ratings for this app considering the written reviews are more varied.
