This application and service has made it to my list of what will deter me from renting an apartment in the future should it be leveraged by a property management company. I would never voluntarily leverage this app nor any of the accompanying equipment. For starters, it takes literally hours to get this thing to connect to my home network every time it disconnects. To make things worse, it will disconnect itself from my network randomly within a weeks time, if not sooner. On multiple occasions, I have restarted the equipment associated with this app, re-setup the app, restarted my modem & router…nothing works. Why is it important to connect to my network you ask? Well, if it isn’t, I am unable to create, alter, or cancel the schedule established for my heating and cooling, let alone unlock my digital lock on the only access point of my apartment. None of which I have a choice in. This may not seem like a big deal until you leave for travel and the system turns on your HVAC system when you had turned it off, ultimatey costing you unnecessary utility bills during brownouts should you leave for over a month. The app even reflected that my thermostat was off when it wasn’t. Thought the premise of this system was to promote efficiency and be “green”. This is not at all the case. This company should be paying me for the time I am forged to spend on this garbage and for the utilities bills that were completely avoidable. An analogue-mercury thermostat from the early 1900’s and a skeleton key would work better than this technology. I am shocked it is continued to be used with how poorly it functions.
My Apt Complex Installed The SmartRent System And I Wish They’d Just Revert Back To Lock And Key, This Is Terrible! NOTHING Is Accurate. As Far As The Front Door Lock, I’m Always Getting Notifications Saying The Lock Is Jammed Or Is Unlocked When I Know I Locked It. I’ll Manually Lock It And 20 Mins Later Get Notifications Saying It’s Jammed Or That It’s Unlocked. Causing Me To Have To Drive All The Way Back To Make Sure My Apt Is Secure. Which May Not Seem Like A Big Deal For Some But I Work Nights, And Being Half Way To Work And Having To Turn Back To Check The Door, Is Annoyingly. Especially Being That I Work Nights And Have Two Teenagers In The House That Sleeps Like A Brick So I Cant Call Them To Make Sure The Door Is Locked And I Can’t Risk Trusting/Relying On The SmartRent App Accuracy. The Thermostat Is Always Delayed And Doesn’t Read Accurate Temps. I Had A Hot Water Heater Leak In The Middle Of The Night And Not A Single Alert Came Through. I Literally Heard The Water Splashing On My Floor, Is How I Knew Something Was Wrong. My Kitchen, Living Room, And Laundry Room All Flooded. It Wasn’t Until 2 Hrs Later When The Plumber Was Halfway Done With The Repairs And Clean Up Did The App Alert Me Of A Leak. The Water Had Been Leaking At Least 4hours By Then, And No It Wasn’t A Small Leak. It’s More Of A Nuisance Than Anything. Those Are Just SOME Of The Issues I’ve Had. I’m Just Tired Of Typing So I’ll End It Here. T.E.R.R.I.B.L.E!
Between the installers messing up my HVAC system and the thermostat never working in the hub always having to be reset! The installers talking to me like I didn’t understand electronics I work as an installer of alarm systems home automation, CCTV systeml satellite systems and large sound systems and background music and businesses and churches for over 16 years if you’re installing a wireless system and you and it is based off a cell phone signal that is nonexistent in the location the equipment is not going to work properly. I’ve had nothing but problems with all aspects of your service I understand how this equipment works and in my opinion that not enough research was done on how weak the cell phone service is in the area! In the garage, and in the hallways, there is no cell my Wi-Fi because of the construction of the building does not work outside my apartment! Your equipment, replaced locks and thermostats and light switches that worked without any problems and now all the devices that were installed seem to be constantly having problems
