Notey - Learn Guitar

We downloaded this with the free trial today for our 7 year old aspiring musician. It was slow to start but seemed fun. Once we got into learning anything, we found that the informational prompts would fly through at the sound of my voice or any sound at all, while I was trying to read the prompts to my child. Therefore I was not able to teach it since they disappeared. We didn’t know what we should’ve been doing. This happened with the sensitivity all the way down too. I also checked settings to see if there’s a way to turn off the automatic prompts but there is not. Unfortunately this won’t work for us as a result. I hope this can be addressed as it seems promising otherwise.

I’m using this app to insert some different material and bring some variety to my curriculum. My students have taken a liking to the way that the scoring system works and have challenged themselves to not miss any notes. There are some issues with the accuracy of the app listening to the guitar, but it’s not much of a problem. Overall, this is a great supplement to my curriculum and once I add more custom tunes, I can see this being a primary course for my kids! Edit: From 4 stars to 5 because the lag was fixed and the customer service is superb!

So this was a very cool find! Notey’s World is a game that teaches you how to play guitar at the same time— using your actual physical guitar’s sounds to control the character. VERY kid-friendly, but also good for adults like me who just want to learn in a more engaging way. I’m very points and feedback-motivated, and this app gives you those. :) Seems like it’s organized in a way where you can tell the developers really thought about the progression of the exercises too from song to song—I feel the difficulty increasing game to game but not in a way that makes me overwhelmed. Overall really enjoying it so far and highly recommend! Definitely sending it around to folks I know who are learning guitar.
