I think this is one of the best apps out there for guitar learning. They’re focused on providing quality over quantity. I’ve been on here for a little over 3.5 years now. From beginner to intermediate, I think this app will help you improve. For Advanced players…I’m not sure. When in doubt sign up and try it out. The free 7 day trial, lets you try everything. I still take one on one guitar lessons with a teacher. This app fills the gap. Some will complain that the “device” mic detection has issues…to that I say you need to get an audio interface. Once you get beyond the early basics, the microphone detection isn’t as precise. This has nothing to do with the app…it’s physics! Get an audio interface. They range in price for $30 and up. Just do an internet search for “audio interface”. I highly recommend the UA Volt. They make great products. They are on the pricier end of the devices. Back to the app…the developers and content creators are well involved with the community. They recently added a forum section for user and the developers to interface in. The support staff responds quickly. As for as the content, it’s well made. It’s not just a bunch of famous songs just to have them. Again the focus is guitar learning…learning the guitar is something you have to put the time in. So, go ahead and sign up…look from me on the forum in the app if you have questions (Marshall).
I’ve really enjoyed the app for a couple of years now, daily learning at the age of 53 and this app keeps me inspired, interested and challenged. There is a ton of information and tabs to follow. I imagine even a skilled, well seasoned guitar player would enjoy and appreciate what the app has to offer. Multiple, well known players provide valuable insights through the videos and step by step instructions, and suggestions. Easy to read and play to tabs make it simple to follow and play. There’s also a ton of material to cover and practice in very versatile genres. I can’t imagine ever running out of material to practice and perfect. The content is constantly updated and new material is introduced to the app almost daily, if in fact, weekly. For decades I’ve tried to commit myself to learning on my own and always walked away frustrated with how overwhelming it was to take on all the tabs, notes, chords, techniques and everything to do with learning and playing. This app really helps ease me into learning without overwhelming information pilled on. With very little effort and time I’ve continued improving and learning all of everything there is to know and understand. In essence, this app is as simple as it gets to truly learning how to play guitar. Great job to the team who is producing it.
I pay for a subscription and enjoy the app I consider myself an intermediate player. This app is kind of mid for a practice tool by this. I mean it is a little slow when your practicing and I wish they would improve speed, when practicing I like to stop, fast-forward, rewind pause and repeat lots of times the app is not fast with these features. Also, there’s not a lot of settings for changing the speed of practice, Some of the exercises only allows 60 bpm to start on some of the leads on some of the leads it would be nice to slow it down even more. I find the Amp section kind of wonky. It’s more of a novelty feature, but not really useful especially if you have your own set up at home it’s nicer to be able to just use your headphones and also listen to your own amp at the same time. Also the app likes to cut out your sound until the exercise starts, sometimes I like to pre-practice and find it very annoying that I have to go back and go to the Amp section in order to hear sound. I finally just gave up and just plugged in my amp so much less so much easier I do like all the lessons and there’s some great instructions here the material is top notch. How would I make this app better I think I would focus more on reference material having charts scales and chords that you could pull up and reference would be great. I think the developer has done a great job and has made this app a teaching tool. but make it a practice tool as well. These are two very different things.
