MATCH – Dating App

Update: finally resolved after a competent professional support person picked up my messages - however I’ve terminated my subscription as the outages and app issues went on too long and it took multiple messages from me to get actual responses to my issues and queries instead of basic copy and paste responses without reading the thread for my support request where I’d already explained issues, iOS version, app version etc and got asked over and over for the same info. I decided after a year away to give Match another ago and it’s been disastrous. The recent major update took the service down for around 24hrs but then stumbled along once semi-resurrected. Since then I have raised multiple issues through customer support and been fobbed off with generic copy & paste responses. I lost contact with a match because notifications and messages etc were massively out of sync and they still are each day with likes being notified and nothing visible in the app despite checking immediately and then later they actually appear. I’ve asked for my monthly subscription to be cancelled but been told I have to pay for the remaining months and despite cancelling Match seem to think they still ah e the ring to take money when the service hasn’t work so much of the time. I’ve just tried accessing the in app help and received a bad gateway error so even that didn’t work right now. I want a refund and I certainly don’t want any more payments taking from my bank account!

I do wish Match wouldn’t keep matching me with ladies whose requirements I don’t meet, such as age and height! As a consequence of which I’m spending too much time sifting and checking. I’m also getting fed up with seeing the same old faces so I decide to thin them out by blocking those that didn’t suit me but Match keep showing them to me. I’m also amazed at those that don’t send a reply to my simply hello’s which is rude not to acknowledge, even if in a polite no thank you but I wish you well manner. We all have one thing in common which is to search and hope that we get matched with a potential partner or spouse I find that most of the ladies I’ve chatted with either don’t really know what they’re looking for or are expecting their Prince Charming to come along and sweep them off of their feet - which ain’t gonna happen under any circumstances girls. Finally I feel that Match should view every main photograph and, where necessary, advise ladies to a) show a head and shoulders image, rather than some distant image at a holiday resort and b) stop filtering their faces that turns men off much more than seeing a few laughter lines! As for those that put up images of themselves looking away or the back of their heads I say : STOP WASTING YOUR MONEY HONEY, COS NO MAN IS GONNA TO PAY TO GO ON A TOTALLY BLIND DATE!

I joined with a six month membership and still hope Match delivers but it's not a totally happy experience so far in terms of the app itself (the website has its own drawbacks too). On the good side there do seem to be a reasonable number of active members on Match which creates at least the possibility of meeting someone. On the bad side the UI is awful and very annoying to navigate, and the search facility extremely clunky. It's impossible to remove likes you are not interested in or unlike to correct fat finger mistakes you make. This is especially annoying when your likes start filling up with unavailable profiles or profiles without photos. A very serious defect is that edits you make to your profile are not automatically updated in the app unless you log out and log in again or delete the app and reinstall. The impression I have is that Match trades on its reputation as the biggest global dating site but there has not been a corresponding investment in the algorithm or the interface. So far slightly disappointed.
