I have high-pitch hearing loss. The app limits what you can do, forcing you to go to a professional ($$) to make minor frequency adjustments. When I use the phone I have to switch to music mode to understand what the caller is saying, and then switch back for normal activity. No way to adjust. They’re almost worthless in a restaurant because they amplify everything in all directions. I tried to contact Jabra 3 times and they ghosted me each time. Furthermore I’ve had to replace the left ear piece twice and the right earpiece once. My left earpiece is going out again. I dread trying to deal with them again. I will switch brands instead. Oh, and I bought the upgraded travel charging base ($) and half the time it won’t charge my right earpiece. Jabra replaced the charger, and it still has the same problem. No wonder they cost so much, their warranty costs are probably 5 times their manufacturing cost, which is probably around $25 since that’s what smart watch electronics cost.
The pro 30 is my first hearing aid. These are not like my Grandfather’s bulky hearing aid. The Pro 30 is the state of the art technology. Got them 6 weeks ago and still use to them. So far, it’s been a very good learning curve. The app is easy to use. You couldn’t mess it up if you trie. Each time you shut them down they reset to default. The only issue I have is I wish I could save the last setting. I finely tune the aids to fit the need and when I recharge, all is lost and I need to start over. Other than that, I very please with the aids and with my Costco audiologists. Plus, my wife loves them as much as I do. She liked the fact that she can speak to me in a normal voice. No more “what did you say” and no more “huh”. Would I buy them again- you bet.
Overall, I like this unit, which was an improvement over my last pair from Widex, which I bought about 5 years ago. A few comments: I like the four choices but find that I use the Hear in Noise setting the most, and in many situations. It is very useful to have the Telecoil setting for plays. It’s great that the device is Auracast ready. Suggestions: The Widex had a separate setting that, among other things, allowed me to focus the hearing on someone in front of me. Adding that would be very helpful in noisy situations. It may be that the Surroundings Settings that is present for the Telecoil loop setting could be used for the All Around setting to accomplish this. The tones when I change settings, are too loud, and actually annoying. I realize that they are meant to provide some feedback. It would be nice if they were lower, or if I could adjust how loud they are. Overall, when there is no ambient noise, voices are loud enough. When there is ambient noise, voices are harder to hear and understand. I’m sure you know that hearing in noise is a major problem for people with hearing loss like mine and I’m sure you are working on tech to improve this. Of course clarity is a problem. It would be great to have settings that would allow me to better “shape’ the incoming sounds so that speech phonemes would be more sharply differentiated. The Hear in Noise setting seems to have some of this. If you ever need beta testers for all this, I’d be glad to volunteer.
