necn: New England Local News

UPDATED June 15th 2022: All issues per my previous ratings have been fixed. The app now loads correctly every time I open the app. Whatever bug that was crashing the app must have been addressed. The feature to add/remove city has been update. You can easily add/delete city’s if you travel frequently as well as easily reorder the cities you prioritize. I travel frequently, surf and ride motorcycles, this is the all I consistently rely on for the most accurate radar imagery and storm tracking. Thanks for continuing to keep your app updated and relevant!! This is my updated review as of May 2022. Great app, I use it mostly for weather. They have made some useful updates however over the last 4-6 months it continually crashes or won’t open. I have the newest phone/software and have deleted and reinstalled multiple times but can’t get it to work consistently. I love the accuracy of the radar and layer options but unfortunately it’s pretty useless if it won’t open. NECN, Please fix asap. It’s surf and motorcycle season, I need my radar back!!! ORIGINAL review a few years prior to the more Recent review above in 2022: They still haven’t added the feature to allow you to 1 click adjust or reorder the locations for weather. I travel for business a lot and often adjust and change weather locations. It’s a pain to delete and re-add all your locations if you want to reorder the way they are displayed.

Just downloaded the app. Had read reviews here, where the developer wrote that you can set your start screen so the app “feels like a weather app,” however, clicking on the NECN on the top left does NOT bring up a menu that lists that as an option (on ios- iPhone). Am I missing something, or has that feature been taken away? Hoping it’s the former, as I liked the older weather app; it’s the main reason I downloaded this news app. If there’s no option anymore to set your home screen, making it necessary to wade through a lot of other items just to navigate to what I really want to see, then I question whether I have use for it. Have read the FAQ for the answer to this question and could not find an answer. Might anyone please help?

I really was only interested in the weather part of this App since I used the old NECN Weather App and they discontinued it. I like how your can have the weather open automatically when you launch the App. The weather portion of the App is very well done. The News section on my IPad is rather annoying, if you click on a story then return to the main news feed it takes you to the top of the news feed, not where you left off so you have to scroll down to get back to where you left off. And the Sports section is formatted differently than the News, also doesn’t seem to include sports schedules for the different teams. All in all a decent App, especially the weather part.
