Fun new variant on a classic game

I downloaded this hoping for the classic Dutch Blitz game but was happily surprised to find a new variant with a crazy twist that requires totally different skills. The basic rules are the same —create ascending piles by color in the shared area of the board while using your woodpile to help get rid of all 10 cards in your blitz pile — but instead of simply placing a card onto a pile, the app requires you to find unmarked “drop zones” for the cards with pixel-level accuracy. Miss a drop zone? Watch your card spring back into your hand … often as an opponent steals the play by easily placing their card on top of the pile. In addition to the speed and strategy required for the classic game, your microfine motor dexterity now comes into play. As a bonus the developers added cool physics effects so your card flies back into your hand with a satisfying elastic snap. Yes, it can be frustrating when two or three attempts to place a card fail but the excitement created by this new variant more than compensates for the frustration. Try it! I think you’ll enjoy. Still, I’m hoping the developers decide to release a classic version of the game where the app can recognize that, say, a blue five you drag directly on top of a blue four actually signals your intention to add a card onto the pile. We’ll see!

Amazing Game, App Needs Help

This has become one of my more favorite games to play in person with family and on here when I don’t have anyone to play with me. However, I do think the app needs some major modifications. First, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to put a card on the pile and the game has returned it to its place instead of placing it. Especially when I play at the hardest difficulty level, this has huge implications to the outcome of the game as the computer is quick enough to take advantage. And I know what you’re thinking. “If you don’t place your card fast enough, the player who does will cause your card to go back even if it looks like you may have played first. That has definitely happened a few times, but I have definitely tried to place the same card on a pile 2, sometimes three times in a row before another player swooped in and beat me to it. Basically I think the app should have a better ability to create a magnet effect so that when a nearby card is close enough to the pile, it will more easily pull it in. Second, an option to play real people and not just computers would also be nice as well as additional fun game modes and twists on the game. Saw another review that mentioned customization which I’m also totally on board with. Choosing the amount of player would also be awesome. In conclusion, even though I only gave it three stars, I do love the game and to some extent the app. There are just some major quality of life updates that I think would make the app sooooo much better! Thanks to the creators and I’m rooting for yall!

Needs improvements

I love this game, but this app needs major improvement. My main annoyance with this app is that even when my card is already first to be placed, the computer will default get it every time it has a card to out there, even if mine is literally hovering over it first. In actual Dutch blitz this would never happen. Another annoyance is that I’ve been having trouble getting the card to stick where I drop it. It often will go right back to my hand after I’ve placed it over a card. That is so frustrating, and has oftentimes resulted in me losing those points to the computer when it swoops in a second later. I would have otherwise gotten it if the card has stayed where I placed it, and it’s a frustration I experience far too often in this game.. It really needs a better way of detecting who made the match first, and keeping the card on. I’ve also had a few issues with the touch buttons glitching. I’ve had some times where I’ve pushed the deck button and then again, and again, and it doesn’t deal. Or pushed the button to start the game and it does nothing. I’ve had to close the app out and reopen it to get it to work again. This has resulted in losing points and sometimes even having to forego the game. If these issues could be fixed, this would be the perfect game. But as it is, it can be quite frustrating.
