I’ve only been on Amata for a couple days and I’ve already had more real interactions than on most other apps. One person said they found me through Amata, but the AI bio they got wasn’t exactly the same as the one the app gave me, which felt a little weird. Also, it doesn’t fully verify people’s locations, so some users might not actually be where they say they are. But honestly, the date I did go on through the app exceeded my expectations. It was close to me, we had real things in common, and it saved me a lot of time — which I really don’t have right now. What I also like is that you get the important details about someone so it’s not a totally blind date, but personality, voice, and vibe are still a surprise. It keeps it real but still a bit mysterious, which is actually cool. The AI can be strange sometimes and comments on your answers like you asked for its opinion 😂 but overall the experience has been solid. I’m giving it 5 stars (they offered a token gift), but realistically it’s a strong 4 with room to improve. I’m definitely not deleting it yet.
I love how Amata eliminates the burnout of endless swiping and matches that go nowhere. It’s so refreshing! My only complaints are cost and minor details. I talked to an earlier user and it used to be way more affordable for date tokens. I also wish it had made it clear in the beginning before the first match, that once you agree to meet someone, you have to pay and there are no refunds for cancellation. I get that it costs money to run the app but it’s a high price for one date when you already have to pay for the drinks/food. Also, I know it’s to make more money but I wish it would lock you from making more matches until you finish a date. I think it would further help with the problem of having the illusion of too many options.
Of COURSE I want to connect with amazing people—and, someday, find the love of my life. As a creative professional in NYC, I also have an erratic schedule, which makes organic connection (ie, time at coffee shops or clubs) difficult to build out week after week. Traditionally, dating apps have been my solution, but most of them just involve so much swiping, so many fake profiles, and so much burnout of the same kinds of conversations that… I just kind of tune out. Amata breaks that cycle with intentional, AI-assisted matchmaking. Users are vetted before sign up, and have to answer detailed questions about their bio, passions, habits (ie, preferences for children or not drinking), turn offs, and life goals. It’s not intrusive—though it can be a lot of talking to the app upfront. The end results speak for themselves though. If you consistently provide iterative, detailed feedback on the kinds of people you’re *really* looking to connect with, the algorithm delivers. Dates with mutual interest are scheduled automatically in convenient, chic locations, dramatically reducing the logistical burden of that last minute “Where do you want to go?” I’ve met three amazing people through Amata so far and, while none have fully clicked yet, I have a feeling I might find my person before the end of the year.
