This app makes it so much easier to create a winning profile (hint: there are no prompts to fill in or actual profile to write) and then does a better job at presenting matches. It’s easy, really zoomed in and not overwhelming and gets results. It’s better than swiping right any day.

I really wanted to like this app, I can’t even bring myself to use dating apps because of how they’re really only designed to profit off your profile. Amata might match you up with someone but it costs $16 just to confirm the date. You don’t get to talk to the guy, hear their voice, text them at all. I don’t understand their logic. As a woman I’m supposed to agree to spend $16 to meet someone who is a total stranger that I can’t even directly speak to until 2 hours before the date begins? That’s extremely unsafe. Not to mention the details you get on the person are often so vague. I keep telling the AI to show me more specific details like religion, height, job, drug use, alcohol use, hobbies etc and it often has none of those details. They also shadowban your account for a week if you agree to meet someone twice and then change your mind. I understand that it’s an attempt to eliminate bots or disinterested people but this isn’t a great platform as it stands. The AI is also inconsistent. It will show me ~5 people per day, but then told me that it only is allowed to show me one per day? I’m sorry what? It makes me really concerned for my personal information and just the system itself. Skip this app. Go meet people irl.

Amata is a great concept. I love the match making idea and scheduling set up, but I don’t think I’ll make it to scheduling a date because the AI keeps showing me people who are AGAINST my preferences. Example: I noted that I hate hiking and adventure sports and don’t want to date someone who highlights that as important to them. Cue Amata showing me 2 hiker/adventure sporters. I tried prompting it again to my preferences and I tried to ask it what other info it needed from me, but the AI output didn’t change. I do really want to believe in this app. I might give it a couple more days before deleting. I would consider trying it again after some months once the AI is improved. For now, it’s wasting my time more than traditional dating apps :(
