The app is fairly easy to use and keeping review and lessons small males it easier to come back every day. I came to the app as someone who has already been learning for a few years, but it is also because of that I think that I notice so often that interpretation is favored over translation in this app, which I think can hinder understanding for learners. Having a setting that allows the user to pick between translation and interpretation would be lovely, or even just having an info button that gives you the literal translation would be a benefit to learners using the app. There are also times when using the app that I seem to get stuck in the lesson area and have a hard time getting back to the apps home area without having to reload it. Additionally, there are many times when the app does not recognize particles that I am saying, such as ใงใ or ใฉใฎ for example (even though the dictation function on my Japanese keyboard picks it up), which results in incorrect speech answers. Iโm overall pleased with my experience in the app so far though.
Thanks to Sephiroth-Sama, I wouldโve never learned about this app. As someone who has a 500+ day streak on Duolingo. I have to say that this app has been much more helpful in educational. Then my learning is on Duolingo. I love the fact that you get to have topics whenever you have conversations within the app. Which really helps me. Focus on what words I should be using within the conversation and even though Iโve only been on here for four days I feel like Iโm starting to become Fluent with the ways I greet people and carry on communication. I really appreciate this app, Iago is seriously so great and really is fun to use. I have to remind myself to take breaks because with how fun it is I start overwhelming myself with how much Iโm trying to do within the app. I love it!
I want to visit Japan one day and be able to speak the language well enough so that I can converse. As a person who is genuinely trying to learn the language, I would like to be able to read or hear what each symbol sounds like. In some areas like the grammar section and some in the terms section of a lesson, there is some vocabulary that doesnโt give phonetics. I canโt properly learn the language if I canโt figure out how to pronounce a term correctly. And maybe I could use google, but Iโd need to figure out what the term is first; which leads me back to square one. Im not using the Hiragana and Kanji setting either, so yes there are some phonetics and other times not. There are also terms that I donโt remember seeing in the practice section that show up in the chat section, and it throws me off sometimes. This a great and fun way to learn Japanese and I enjoy almost every minute of it. Aside from the things mentioned above I think itโs a great idea, and all it needs are a few updates here and there. Edit: I went and learned some of the mechanics of the app, and while I can learn how to pronounce the terms and phrases when a new grammar piece shows up. This does make it a little bit easier to learn. I still sometimes see new grammar that pops up out of the blue though. Regardless, I like what the app is all about and Iโm excited to see new features and more updates.
