I lived in Japan for a couple years and learned how to read and speak there. Though my reading skills are weak this makes it fun for me, I usually have a hard time staying focused when learning so in this format I’m reading a story and learning at the same time!! Reading actual stories and learning conversational Japanese is a really great way to learn. It takes a small learning curve to learn where everything is at, but you can get the dictionary form of a word to u destined it and study it. You can save it and you can even translate the sentences into English to see how well you did with your understanding! Great app!

I purchased this app and enjoy the variety of topic covered. The illustrations are quite beautiful as well. After obtaining the initial free version I attempted to purchasing the year plan for a discount and had much difficulty, but the support team was helpful every step as they worked through several bugs and issues with one feature and with Apple. Thank you! A minor suggestion, on the phone, the type font is small for some to read. A button for increasing font size would be wonderful!
Shortly after my suggestion they made the font size adjustment! Great customer service!

I like shinobi because even though you pretty much only get two free stories a day (unless if you want to buy the subscription which wouldn’t even be that bad), the stories aren’t that short either and it asks you to answer a short comprehension quiz after reading it. If you don’t know what a word means, it’ll give you a dictionary meaning for it along with sentences.
You can also pick what your interested in so that you don’t need to read boring stories about something you don’t wanna read.
So for that, i give it 5 stars :)
