Not much of a mobile gamer, but this one got me hooked. The ads aren’t forced on you, rather they are there for when you are willing to watch them. In app purchases are also at your leisure and not forced. The Discord server is EXTREMELY helpful! Your can run all of your heroes turn-based, but you can always choose to have the AI run your heroes for you, which is helpful when multitasking. I give this one an A+ for fantasy turn-based mobile games.

Overall it’s a pretty fun game. A couple highs and a couple lows. For the highs, there is a lot of variety in the characters and their move sets. Lots of dungeons and areas outside the main campaign. I’ve been enjoying trying different strategies in the arena and improving my heroes. For the lows, the biggest one is that it’s nearly impossible to get new characters outside of paying for them. I’ve been playing for about 10-15 hours at this point, and summon brews are just so hard to come by. It’s a bit unfortunate since evolving your characters requires you to have other monsters with the same star count. My other complaint is that the campaign isn’t well structured and feels a lot more like each area is on it’s own and the overarching story line is missing. It’s a lot of “let’s try here”, “ok not here, next spot” with no great explanation of why we’re moving around like this.

Almost as fun as 5 Heroes. A few changes I really hate to see though. Can fail upgrading your gear. Just spent 15min farming up gold just to fail upgrading gear 10 times in a row. Also accidentally equipped wrong armor and had to pay gold to change it. Not a fan of that at all. If you can deal with those thing. The game still has potential. The new abilities do make the fights a lot more interesting and I’m sure will make upgrading your hero feel more rewarding. But like I said when you blow all your gold failing to upgrade your armor…hard to get hyped to play the game.
