Reviews: What People Think About CTBIDS

This app can be great, and some of the sellers are really on top of it, and they get your item shipped to you right away. But the majority of them take FOREVER to ship, if they even ever ship the items out! It’s not uncommon to receive items 6-8 weeks after the auction. And the one auction I really wanted to win, it looked like I had won, I submitted my $2200 bid, and somebody else submitted a bid for the SAME AMOUNT RIGHT AFTER MINE, and somehow they won. Contacted the seller, no response whatsoever. Contacted support for the app and finally got a response, that there was some kind log tech glitch? I think it was rigged, it was for a $10,000 ring. I’ve had several items that haven’t shown up at all and the seller isn’t responsive to my contacts. You can find great deals sometimes but you really have to look every other day $ you have to accept the risk that you’ll never get the items you paid for. The 3 great sellers one here are the reason I keep shopping. The rest of them act like they’re doing you, the buyer, a favor and they’ve got no time for politeness.

Pro: It’s nice to have a dedicated app for the phone. You can mark favorites and much more.
Cons: There are auctions using CTBids that appear on the big estate sale website (not sure if I can use the name in this review) that don’t appear in the CTBids app. The “regionalization” feature (where you’re forced to choose a region to see results) seems to exclude auctions.
Additionally, if you’re looking at an item in an auction, and that item is in the middle of 120 other items, tapping the back arrow brings you back to the very top of all available items. You have to scroll aaaaaaallll the way down to get back to where you left off.
I think this can become a useful app once it’s had more time to mature, but for now I’m sticking to using a web browser to access the site.

All auctions have an end time when set up, but none of them end when advertised. If ANYONE else makes a bid in the last 5 minutes of an auction, they reset the 5 minute clock and let bidding go crazy so they can make higher seller fees. You wait over a week for a close at a literal preset time, and then it can go on for as long as someone is willing to make a new bid once every 5 minutes. I had one go an hour past its original end time because someone kept waiting 4:45 then bidding and resetting the clock. I’ll stick to eBay auctions where they keep the schedule and it’s up to buyers to be diligent and get bids in before the clock.
