Carousell: Snap-Sell, Chat-Buy

I’ve been using carousell for about 5-6 years now because it has been a good platform within singapore to buy/sell things. But over the years some of the new features have been extremely confusing to use, and it’s clear that carousell’s motive is to make money instead of just providing us with an online marketplace. I have switched over to depop and I find it so much better, many things that carousell can learn from and they also allow users to buy/sell internationally!!! The only reason why I’m still using carousell is because it’s still what most locals use here in Singapore. The new feature which allows users to only have 30 new listings is absolutely ABSURD. to have more than 30 listings, we would need to purchase a carousell business account which is literally crazy as it costs so much money! I know many carousell users who are upset over this and if weird features like this keep coming up, no one will use carousell anymore. This is extremely upsetting as I used to LOVE carousell but now I find myself using other platforms like Instagram or Depop to sell/buy my things. I would not recommend carousell to anybody until things go back to before.

I don’t want to seem like a shopper that got grumpy because of bad sellers, but I’m gonna be honest in this review. I have messaged 11 sellers, all for k pop albums, and have gotten little to no responses back. Now I understand this itself is not because of the app, but what is misleading is that they get badges and stuff for being fast or slow responders, and ALL that I have messaged have badges saying they are fast responders when in reality that is no where near the case. It tells you about their activity status, like when they were active last, and a lot of the time I will have messaged them two days beforehand and see that they were active twenty minutes ago. I feel that they have to be much more direct with giving these sellers badges, because in the end I am not able to purchase from this app because of their lack of interest. How am I supposed to buy things without knowing how much they are willing to negotiate, or if they prefer PayPal or a card? PLEASE get I touch with your sellers! Update : It’s only gotten worse, I’ve waited a while and MULTIPLE sellers just leave the messages seen. It doesn’t matter if you’re talking to or asking a seller about a certain product, they so easily just take it off the market. Not only that, but they keep things up WAY after they have been sold or reserved, and the sellers are honestly not the best. Please have a talk with them on making things more clear!

I've had good experiences with this app it's easy to upload pictures and post items for sale. Also easy to communicate with interested buyers. I use PayPal for the extra seller protection and use auspost tracking services to make sure my item makes its' destination. It's really a great platform. There have been scams on this app but most buyers and sellers are genuine people attempting to get a great buy, build their platform, or make some extra cash. Unfortunately there are people who abuse the purpose of this app. I would recommend this app for both buyers and sellers
