UniFi Endpoint

We just installed a complete unified G3 based intercom access system in our community and so far we love it, but there are some glaring flaws in managing residents and visitors. The biggest flaws we cannot select what features in the endpoint app we want a particular resident to have. For example, for registered owners of the house, they should be able to create a pass, answer a call, unlock the gate, etc. But for teenagers in the house, we want to be able to remove certain features from the application, such as create a pass. So they would be able to answer a call if it comes and open the gate, but they would not have privileges to create passes. We need this type of granularity in terms of what features are enabled or disabled. These features could be stored in a policy we create specifically for this type of situation. And the entire creator pass workflow is missing critical features. Residents should be able to see a history of passes that have been used and upcoming passes that have been created. They also need the ability to revoke a pass rather than having to call admin to do that for them.

I’m giving this app 3 stars because I really miss the camera icon the app used to have. With the old design, I could tap the camera icon immediately to view the live feed before unlocking the door. Now, the app uses up and down arrows that open a small menu with only two options: Unlock or Live View. The buttons in that menu are too small, especially for people with larger fingers. More than once, I’ve accidentally unlocked the door instead of viewing the camera feed first. This is a significant safety concern because I want to verify that it’s safe before letting in a visitor or delivery person. I hope the developers consider bringing back the dedicated camera icon or making the menu buttons larger and easier to tap.

I work in IT infrastructure and am trying to find the best solution for customers who aren’t tech savvy to be able to add employees to there Unifi camera system without needing to add them as an Admin. This idea of this app is great since it’s locked down and limited and all you need to do is log in. However the single camera feed without the ease of swiping between cameras feels super counterintuitive compared to how every other app functions. Obviously that’s a super minor issue since the app still does what it needs to do. It’s just a bit funny to consistently try and swipe do to muscle memory
