NC Quick Pass

Using this app is like going back in time to 1997, but with more glitches and fewer helpful humans. It’s the perfect fusion of government efficiency and dial-up internet. Want to log in? Good luck—every time you try to do anything the error message “internal error” appears and you are stuck. Much like all government endeavors you are left feeling empty inside and wonder if they are gaslighting you into thinking you are the one with an internal error. Want to update your plate? “Internal error”. I’ve tried contacting them with no help I’m starting to consider using a carrier pigeon, maybe that will get their attention since this modern age seems to be too complicated for the person running the app who probably trained on turbo pascal. This isn’t a toll system—it’s a passive-aggressive pen pal program run by robots who are in dire need of retirement. We frequently travel with 5 people in the car (wife and 3 kids) and the number of tolls they have given me for “low occupancy” is absurd. I was starting to worry my life was following Russel Crow in a beautiful mind. If NC Quick Pass were any slower, it would be a parking pass.

The app is great. You can see all your transactions you can set up your account. They should’ve had this long time ago cause before that was a really antiquated system invoicing by mail and even if you had a transponder, it was ridiculous to try to pay bills or even get through to this office with this app, it’s hassle free.

The app works fine for as a little as I use it. It can be clunky and hard to find the correct page. My biggest complaint is that I was lied to by one of their customer service reps. We were making a trip through NC and did not have our pass yet, but I called well before we got to the tiles to double check to see if we had to have the pass, or if an account linked to our license plate was adequate. I was told that we would be fine as long as we marked on the app that we were going to be traveling on the HOV lanes with a high occupancy vehicle. They charged us for all the toll crossings with the note on the chafe stating low occupancy. I disputed the charges and had to make several phone calls and was finally told that it doesn’t matter what I was told, I had to have the decal in place. It was very frustrating and the the customer service reps very very unhelpful. The last one never called me back. This is not a good way to run any business. I wish I could give zero stars.
