Official NY Lottery

Yes this app is convenient to be able to see things related to the New York lottery. But isn’t part of the point of it to be able to scan your tickets? I’ve had problems with this app not scanning since it was updated to the new version over a year ago. It worked just fine before. I’m sure most people using this app probably want to scan more than a couple tickets so entering each one is insanely time consuming. Why is scanning a ticket even an option if it doesn’t work? Why not continue to give your customers the convenience that you gave them before instead of just being able to claim that it’s something you offer?

MY UPDATE: I was able to get the old version back of the lottery app. I used an old iOS device with the previous version of the lottery app and with help I was able to get it back onto what device I’m using now. Big time happy about that. I find it wrong for this app to ask for all personal information in order to log in and use it, mostly for scanning tickets. You want my full name, address, birthday date, drivers license front and back, and then a photo of myself. That is 100% wrong and no way will I do that to use the scan ticket feature. I will not give that information. App is deleted and I will never use it. I’ll go directly to the website to check my numbers. If you don’t want to provide all of your personal information, along with drivers license and another photo, do not update if you’re currently still using the old version. In my opinion, it’s pretty low for a new app to ask for all personal information to login and use other features. DO NOT UPDATE. But, luckily I didn’t update the app on another device and I won’t do it. Which means I can still use the scan feature to scan the barcode on tickets. Best of all, I don’t have to allow the state, in my opinion, to steal my information to use the new version. Sorry, but that’s the way I feel that the state is doing.

All New York Lottery players wanted was an app that they can check winning numbers and scan their lottery tickets to see if they were winners. They have completely turned this app into something much different than its original purpose. They are now asking for personal information which includes a phone number and your social security number. Clearly they are trying to keep track of who’s winning so they can collect child support payments, owed taxes, etc. They aren’t fooling anyone with these new requirements. New Yorkers have waited long enough for a decent app and this joke is what they present to them. Shame on these developers and New York State for collaborating on this farce. Don’t even bother wasting time on this app, it deserves a zero star rating.
