Mango Baby: Newborn Tracker

What a fantastic app. It’s 3am and baby is crying. Does he want formula? A diaper change? When was the last one for each? Luckily my iPhone has standby mode with a Mango Baby widget that tells me it was 2h 38m ago for the formula bottle and 1h ago for the diaper, so it’s probably time for formula. I tap the other widget button to turn on my kitchen soft lights to make a bottle. Now I feed baby, and then check and change his diaper. But my hands are full! But no worries, I had created an iOS shortcut called “baby peed” and another called “baby drank a bottle”, and telling those names to Siri automatically logged a wet diaper and 2oz of formula. Now we can head back to bed/bassinet and put the phone back on its charger. All data logged in the app via shortcuts. Oh yeah, my Lock Screen shows the last bottle feed time and last diaper change, so I always have a good clue about what baby needs right at my finger tips, without ever opening my Lock Screen or standby mode. The only thing I would ask for is: pretty please make an Apple Watch complication so I can see last feed time and last diaper change right on my wrist! Best app ever.

I purchased the premium version of Mango Baby when I saw it listed on a website about indie apps because my wife and I were expecting twins and I knew we’d need an app to track feeding, diapers, etc. The app looked great, but I have to say it has absolutely blown me away. Everything works so seamlessly, particularly with two people using it. The iCloud syncing shocks me how good it is every time. Being able to see the live timer on my phone when my wife started it on her phone is one example of a delightful UX. There are countless others, but suffice to say this app has truly been a life saver. I am so glad we bought the pro version to support this incredible app and the indie dev who creates it. There are definitely a handful of things that could be improved for supporting twins, triplets, etc, but we have never had any real problems with that. Bottom line, we love the app and enjoy using it constantly throughout the day to save our sanity!!!

My husband and I love this app! The fact that it has Siri automation has been so incredibly helpful when I have my hands full during a feeding and I can just turn to my phone and tell it that I’ve started breast-feeding to log the feed. You can even change the automation phrases to be more in line with something you would naturally say. I love that it syncs across multiple devices because my husband and I can update it in real time from each of our own devices and we have my mom logged in as well so she can see the app instead of checking in with us throughout the day. The indie developer of this app clearly has design and UX experience as noted by simple design elements like switching the buttons from the left to the right side of the screen to be a better fit for whichever hand you hold your phone with. We tried some of the other big-name apps like Huckleberry and after a week or much happier having switch to Mango Baby.
