I prefer this app over any of the other period tracker apps that I’ve tried for a variety of reasons — the availability of Planned Parenthood’s resources and the fact that it uses gender-neutral language throughout being central among them. But there are a few features that the app is sorely missing, and I agree with the other reviews that the old look was nicer and much easier to use. I missed tracking a month right after the update happened because a bug made it impossible to log any information; the bug has been fixed, but for months afterward the app failed to accurately predict my period and there was no way to fix the problem except for manually adding in the missed period using guesswork; I opted to delete and reinstall the app without migrating my old data over instead to start from scratch. I also wish that there was an option to change the time that the app rolls over from one day to the next. I work evenings and am naturally a night owl, so I usually don’t settle in to record the day’s information until after midnight, when the date has already changed. It’s a mild inconvenience, but it can confuse the app into thinking that my period has already ended and makes using the app just a little bit more frustrating. I’ve used other apps that have the option to adjust the time that the date rolls over to fit your schedule and would like it if that was implemented here.
So I downloaded this app around 3 years ago or so. In the beginning sometimes I would forget to log certain days but I’ve been on track ever since for the past almost 2 years. I’ve missed a month of my period due to the fact of how irregular it is. I’m very impressed at how the app now figured out & mastered my IRREGULAR period. Spot on is able to give an estimate between certain days of when I should expect the unexpected even when I miss a whole month of my period (& not pregnant, my body is weird like that). ALSO, I love how detailed the app is to the point I was logging when I was sexually active, traveling, sleepless etc etc ! You could even log the mood that you’re in (which I did as well). I really enjoyED this app. SO I guess all good things may come to end because I just updated the app & it gave an option to transfer my information. I said “yes” & there was an error & an option to “try again” I tried again & again & again. I did not want to lose YEARS of information !! The app couldn’t retrieve ANYTHING and now everything is lost. I Regret updating the app & this is why I’m leaving this review! Maybe I can save someone else ? Lol. I was fine with the way the app worked I didn’t think that an update would do this .. Anyways overall the app is a 10/10 honestly I LOVED it obviously since I’ve been using it for years but I’m highly disappointed that now I have to start over again. I had other period apps but I only used this one consistently because it was amazing so I truly lost ALLL information. I’m salty. But even though this happened I would STILL recommend it to a friend... just don’t update it 🤷🏾♀️
I’ve now finally gotten a chance to use SpotOn to its full potential, especially now that I’m on birth control. I love that it’s easy to use and understand, it’s got links and glossaries full of info, and it let’s you track almost every aspect of your period. I’ve recently started using another period tracking app, simply because it’s even more customizable than SpotOn and gives me more statistics that I find this app to be missing. I would love if SpotOn let me log if I took my birth control late or if it’s a placebo day and I wish I could write notes about the day (which I find other apps also lack). Mainly the reason I’m switching apps is because my placebo days are off on the app and no matter how many times I reset and try to fix it, I can’t get the days to reset to seven and I only have four days with placebo notifications. It’s really important to me to remember to log those days in, especially because with my doctor, I’m analyzing the changes my body is going through WITH and WITHOUT the birth control—so little things like not being able to indicate whether I’ve taken my placebo or not, really throw off my stats. Other than this problem, I think this app is amazing and it breaks my heart that I have to switch to another, especially given the ease of use. I hope there will be changes to come because I still favor it over the Clue app. It’s still installed on my phone, simply cause every time I see it update, I’m hoping new features are being added. Big thanks to the devs for adding in customizable moods, body, and actions!!!
