Had fun playing this game after having completed the prior two in the series. I found the game mechanics fun to work with and optimize within my character’s “build.” And it seems there is opportunity to play with two other quite different builds. If you like RPGs in general and want a game that you can play either [almost] as little at a time or as long at a time as you want, this is a winner for mobile for sure. The game’s mechanics were even better than the prior two games, but that’s more personal than universal. Many people enjoy the others as their favorite of the three. There are ads, but pretty minimal compared to most mobile games. To be clear, you play one ad for each dungeon level you complete. Except for after beating [what might be] the final boss, then there were 4-5, but actually not ads, just tabs that pop up and can be closed right away. Highly recommended.
This game is really amazing. I love how although there is a tutorial, there’s no handholding, and you get to customize your character however you want. there are all sorts of cool synergies to experiment with, and the mechanics are simple yet challenging. Accessibility wasn’t so good to begin with, but it has improved greatly in the most recent updates. The dungeon tiles are now accessible to voiceover, and so is a lot of the combat system. I haven’t finished the game yet, I just started the dark Moon forest dungeon. From what I’ve experienced so far, this seems to be the best installment of the Grim series. I also love the story, the writing is very dark and for boating.
I loved Grim Quest and Grim Tides was decent. That being said Grim Omens may be the best of the 3 games: the only category that it falls short is the music imo. I think Grim Quest and Grim Tides had better music. The combat feels more crisp and decisive than the previous two entries though, and I don’t find myself slogging through battles as much. Initially I wasn’t a fan of having map markers showing interest spots, but it’s honestly a lot more convenient than having to clear an entire floor every time. Additionally, the story is probably the best of the three with Grim Quest taking a close 2nd simply due to establishing the entire lore.
