I enjoyed this app and felt comfortable spending 20-30 bucks a week when I started playing. You learn VERY quickly that if youโre not spending several hundreds on a weekly basis then you have zero chance of winning any of the constant tournaments going on. I wish that I was overreacting or being unreasonable, but all of this on top of (of course) never ending ads (unless you spend $40 to permanently remove) is a new level of greed and points to how far apart these companies are getting from their consumer base and instead of trying to polish and better balance, they just move right on to the next one, never giving a moments thought about customer service, quality assurance, or customer LOYALTY. If youโre comfortable spending a couple hundred bucks a week, every week, just to have an iota of a chance at โfairnessโ, then this very mid game is for you. If youโre tired of the greed and lack of customer care and donโt wish to continue rewarding and supporting developers and companies such as this, congrats youโre a good person who chooses to not contribute towards burning our world down just so the very few at the top are able to appease shareholders and/or investors, so that theyโre able to add another zero to their โworthโ. They donโt care about you or balancing any game, just your money, so if you arenโt able to afford that, theyโre letting you know that you donโt matter to them. I would say do better, but none of these clowns possess an ounce of self-awareness nor morality. !!!PLAYER BEWARE!!!
Initially this game had issues with lack of Stamina. They have resolved that by making it more abundant if youโve bought, and by sponsoring more events that you can play that allow you to store stamina (the event donโt use it), and still be able to play. Itโs a good balance. Iโm to getting near the top of the board, and the levels can be grinding. The progression for ranger side is frustrating and very slow to the point of being largely useless. The gear is also largely useless, where you acquire hundreds of pieces of junk gear you will never use. If you decommission it, you end up with a ton of tokens that you will never use to โrefitโ your gear. I wish there were better ways to enhance what you have, rather than collecting tons of junk, but it is what it is. Overall the game is a good buy for the main game. Expensive, but Iโve been playing it now for a couple of month and itโs still entertaining (mostly due to the events at this point).
One simple rule change would help a lot. That is, no single draw of card offerings should be 100% new towers. There should always be at least one upgrade card in every draw set. Too often in early round, you get a set of cards that are all new towers, but the towers being offered are effectively useless until upgraded to at least level 2 or 3 with card upgrades. At that point you already know there is no way you will keep ahead of the enemies long enough to get some useful defenses set up and instead you just quit the round and start over. Beyond that, I will say this game is fun and keeps me coming back, generally. But it is grindy to the EXTREME. You fight your way through 4 levels in an hour and then hit one of the boss levels and it will be 2 weeks irl until you can level up enough to get past it. Then repeat. I know this is done intentionally to drive people to pay-to-win options, so Iโm not holding my breath for it to change. But the balance could be slightly better. Itโs so extreme. Also the towers could be better balanced. There are only a handful of towers that are actually worth anything and the rest I avoid like the plague. My ideal load-out: beam, hive, tesla, and disruption field. And then pray I get the good upgrades early enough in the round to have a fighting chance.
So Iโve spent a small chunk of time on this game and thought it best to leave a review. So far Iโve been leveling, upgrading, collecting cards and learning strategies on how to clear levels with a perfect rating because I = completionist. I have to say itโs been a while since I saw a good TD game come out that I actually felt was rewarding enough o hold my interest. Iโm an unpaid reviewer here so hear me out real quick; this is a good TD game for many reasons. Mobile games these days rely on the players addiction to achievement and upgrade progress to generate more ad views and time spent on the game with little to no reward. But at what cost to the player? We spend so much time playing and only see a small fraction of reward for our time, unless we spent money to get there faster and at that point Iโve already deleted it and moved on to something else. Galaxy Defense has made me feel like the time I spend playing is worth it, and thereโs a struggle involved that makes me want to play more. Congratulations to the devs for constructing something with balance that can be felt and not paid for, I implore you to keep it this way so that this game becomes something I play as regularly as my other games. I wonโt dive too deep into the minutia of the game details because, wellโฆyou should try this for yourself and see if you agree with me. Itโs rewarding, itโs challenging, itโs many systems make sense and the time spent on it feels relative to the expectations of what it should deliver once youโve gotten so far. I really enjoy this and Iโll be playing this every day for quite some time!
The game is hard for a beginner to pick up and start playing just in lvl 1 I only had about 5% of my hp left and it didnโt really help that every thing I did upgrade didnโt help since the moment I got it I would get swarmed by 100 more things to destroy so it made it hard to play with out almost being killed and the 2x speed says itโs unlocks at lvl 2 but no itโs just a way so you buy it even if you get all the best upgrades it makes it insanely hard to survive sure some people like games like that but for a mobile game it doesnโt really work if all your doing is standing still not even having needing to do anything at most you put this on your phone while you do something like playing a different game on pc or console just look over at it once a hour just to see that your dead in about 1 minute from then and even then I just looked and it says the age rating is 4+ who do you expect 4 year olds to even get pass lvl 1 your probably thinking the kid will spend money off of their momโs card so you get free money even the starter pack from another review says they got stuck back at lvl 5 after buying it and it would take way to long to grind for to get pass the next lvl so good job you made one of the least fun free to play games known to man kind
Let me first say that this an awesome game! Would be 5 stars, BUTโฆ The tower strategy really adds to the game and I appreciate how hard it is. However that being said, the game is not โpay to winโ and very challenging, but itโs very odiously โexploit the players love for a great game in the first weekโby making the weekly boot camp event impossible to obtain without paying. Weekly events in games should be hard, and itโs okay to incentivize players to pay for a leg up, but this games boot camp that promises the starting livery tower as an award basically locks the desirable rewards behind daily goal tokens that can not be obtained by casual play. I strongly doubt it is even possible to reach level 20 and elite level 15 in a week with in game purchases . I have been playing too much in the past week and have only been able to obtain 60% of the points needed to complete the event. In addition to that, the costs for the micro-transactions are exorbitant, to say the least. $50 dollars for the VIP ad removal permanently is insane when a console game charges $60-80 dollars. All that said the game is not, I would say pay to win, but itโs certainly โpay to fully enjoy without false hopesโ. You have great game, donโt take advantage of that to exploit players.
