While it does not work as an early warning system, it does help show trends and activity around the globe. The filters work well, but it glitches easily. It is by far the best quake app I downloaded tho. With a little improvement, it will be excellent.

I read many of these reviews and it’s amazing how many people don’t bother to investigate how it works. One person hit the “simulator” button and was surprised by the demonstration warning. This app will only warn you if the shaking at your location will hit a magnitude threshold where your safety is threatened. Several people said they didn’t get a notification during the Ridgecrest 7.1. The shaking at my home lasted 90 seconds and I did not get early warning because it was 125 miles away and didn’t cause damage.

I was waiting for my kindergartener to be released from school for the day, along with the other parents that were also waiting for their kindergarteners. I was exploring the app and noticed the 'simulator' button. I pressed play. To my horror, my phone played a demonstration of the warning: "EARTHQUAKE! EARTHQUAKE! Shaking expected in seven seconds! EARTHQUAKE! EARTHQUAKE! Shaking expected in three seconds!" All the other parents heard the warning and began looking for cover as I'm shouting "NO EARTHQUAKE, we are fine-it's an early earthquake warning app on my phone, no shaking is expected..I'm so sorry, it's just a simulator.." On the plus side, a few parents ended up downloading the app so there's that..
