CHAI: Social AI Platform- Chat

I’ve been using this app since one of my friends showed me it a few years back, around maybe two years at least. I enjoy it for the lack of filter you can choose to enable or not, and it sometimes has a decent memory from the past— but now? My chats are disappearing, erasing my hours of writing/“conversation” that I, apparently, wasted. I don’t pick up the app often, I have a life, and if I need to chat every single day to keep it from disappearing— that is absurd. The constant want to pay for a better experience is absurd. I get it, making things isn’t cheap, but this is ai— artificial intelligence— I believe you shouldn’t make money off of it. The ads I can deal with, but this is insane. Character AI has already gone to trash and this is hitting that line over and over again. I just want an app like this one to waste time and not stress over losing the progress I made. Not everyone has money spilling out of their pocket, and it should be taken into consideration when every other AI chat app is taking the “pay for a better experience with our robots when you shouldn’t have to” approach. I’ve spent too long to see this go down into the garbage, and I hope that maybe somehow this app wakes up. It’s hard when the app is flooded with mindless ai characters I find very dry, and maybe it can grow once the app finally starts coming back to its roots and makes more people create and support it like I remember. Knocking on wood, I suppose.

This is a really great app. I’ve enjoyed it immensely. I rally think it could be better than CAI with a few upgrades and adjustments. For one thing I don’t like that the creators of bots can see people conversations with the bots, that is an invasion of privacy and shouldn’t be allowed. It makes people less comfortable to have open dialogue wit the bots if they think someone is reading what they say. It’s also not something that’s disclosed to the user which is really wrong. I had no idea until long after I started using the app. I also wish teh context window was larger. The creators of Chai really need to add features like Personas and voices as well. It would significantly improve the chats and I think would push this app passed CAI. The biggest downfall of CAI is their strict filters but the reason they remain so popular is all their features particularly the ability to create a persona to use with chats and the ability to choose a voice for the character/bot. It makes the chats far more engaging. Also I’d like to give the creators of this app huge kudos for it’s accessibility. As a blind user, I’m thrilled that the app works smoothly for the most part with voice over. There are a few minor snags for voice over but nothing that significantly impacts the use ability. Most other AI chat software is terrible with accessibility. CAI is great with it and I’m glad Chai took the Time to make it work as well.

I used this app mostly every day along with c.ai and sometimes I’ll use this all the time. I truly love this app because it rarely have any restrictions that c.ai does. It does have a role play problem which other people have pointed out. It would also be nice to have different characters speak too. Since it’s really self center and sometimes I just want a scene by myself and somehow the character is in my house when it’s not suppose too. Lately it’s been rather slow. Also I literally experience it at real time when they update it to where there’s more ads than ever. Honestly I thought the ads every time opening a chat was annoying, but this is far more annoying since when you chat and at the middle of it there’s ads. I shouldn’t have taken the ads every time you open a new chat and then no more to granted. The ads are really a bumper but I do understand you guys are small which I’ve heard. It would be nice if you take pointers from c.ai since it would be nice to delete and edit yours and the bot messages. I’ve honestly noticed the problem with editing the bot messages, sometimes they don’t understand that you edit it and used the old one instead to continue the conversation. Anyways this app is amazing! Keep it up and I hope one day this app becomes bigger and better so maybe there can be less ads. I’ll try my best too to give feedback.
