I want to use Dr on Demand on my computer, but it doesn’t work, so I have to use a mobile device. Sometimes I’ve had trouble connecting to appointments despite having three or four bars of cellular as well as a fiber wifi connection. On one occasion, I had a screen that told me it was waiting for my provider, with a spinning progress wheel, and got notification (while still watching the spinning) that I had been charged for my missed session. I called tech support and had the charge removed, and then I was told Bluetooth has to be turned off or the Doctor on Demand system will see my attempt at logging in for my appointment as an attack. I finally went to a replacement appointment and then tried to schedule a followup appointment, only to find there were no available dates listed with my provider. I logged in day after day, trying to schedule an appointment, and finally had to call tech support again to contact the provider, then log in day after day again to set up appointments. Now I want a simple answer to a question about scheduling a different type of appointment—this isn’t in the FAQ—and can’t send a message because Dr on Demand says I can’t send another message till all previous tickets have been resolved. I don’t know of any outstanding support messages, so I’ll have to call yet again. This whole process has wasted a ton of my time and the doctors’ time. I love the idea of being able to have an appointment from home—sometimes right away—but the implementation is a stressful pain.
I love the convenience of calling from home and we have used this serval times with no issues and I will use it again. I’m leaving 4 stars instead of 5, however, because after using it last night for my husband- I accidentally gave them a closed pharmacy (it was 9:15p) I felt terrible bc my husband was in bad shape and medicine was right at our finger tips.... so I called DOD right back, they answered right away. I told them what happened and ask that his prescriptions be transferred to an open pharmacy. They said no problem, however it goes to another department and she couldn’t tell me what order his case would be in nor how long it would take... I’m thinking maybe 30 mins max, an hr rolls by... nothing- I call again and they tell me the same thing.... my poor husband just tries to go to bed.... 1:30a rolls around the pharmacy I asked them to transfer it too is also now closed after midnight... my husband is calling at this point- same answer... he calls at 5:30a and the same department we’ve now called 4x finically says you know what “im just going to transfer it for you” ????? Are you kidding me, so you had that capability the whole time and could have relieved my husband 8hrs ago?! I know I made the original mistake but you could have obviously easily done that HOURS AGO! I won’t mess that up ever again but I would highly suggest you address that issue for anyone else that it happens too especially in cases where sick ppl NEED their medicines sooner than later. Absolutely ridiculous!
I don’t often write app reviews but felt compelled to with this. I am an international flight attendant and this app is a game changer for me! If it had not been for Dr on Demand I would have had to find an urgent care center somewhere, wait hours in a room filled with other sick people and would’ve paid far more just to be told what I already intuitively know...that I have a head cold and an ear infection. These factors are what usually kept me from going to urgent care and getting the treatment I probably needed. Can you imagine being in a foreign country, not speaking the language, having to weather snow and ice on foot while you try to make your way to a hospital in a country where you don’t have insurance coverage, alone, only to have to trek back to your hotel and find the nearest pharmacy on the way? It’s a big deterrent. Now, with Dr on Demand, I can do it from the comfort of my hotel room and the app will locate the closest pharmacy. Today, this app and the wonderful doctor kept me from flying with a middle ear infection and risking potentially blowing an ear drum, which would have resulted in permanent hearing loss. I waited less than two minutes and the appointment probably only took five minutes. This is my new, most favorite health app! Everyone should download it and have it ready for when they need it.
