Countries you think you know have surprising shapes when that’s all you have. Often you will seek further info about a country on Google. And it is just thrilling to recognize a shape straight off. You’re a genius! I do this every morning. Enjoy!
Wordle is a good puzzle. However this implementation has two big problems. It was available from the App Store as a free app, but would absolutely not let me play the game without purchasing the Pro level. So l spent the $9.95. My bad. It has a MAJOR flaw. Most of the time it works OK, but some of the "correct" country names are definitely not correct. Example: when shown a map of Cape Verde, the puzzle does not accept "Cape Verde" or "Cabo Verde" or even "Republic of Cape Verde". No, the only answer that will work is "Cape / Cabo Verde". Yes, you havebto enter it exactly that way, with the slash. What?? There are a others like that, East Timor for example.
Not the countries, per se. I was surprised to see how close to each other some countries are and I travel the world and use physical maps, but still, there is always much to learn. I’m going to continue with the free version. Would never pay money for this. In this game, you see a country’s shape and pretty much guess a name. Some look coastal, so that helps. Worldle tells you how far away it is and in which direction. So, I go to the internet and look at multiple online maps trying to figure it out only to discover it was Republic of the Congo instead of Republican Congo. Timor-Leste was supposed to be East Timur. There is no skip. You get 5 or 6 attempts till you get the answer. The most known countries I’ve been given thus far are Lebanon and Croatia. I had Togo, Gabon, can’t even remember the rest. Am I just that slow? Lol! To the builder, I suggest starting off with multiple choice like on “Which continent is Moldova?” or “Which of the following countries can be found in Europe?” instead of two hundred countries all at once, or at least start off with the most popular and move up from there. I’ve not had anything countries such as Germany, Mexico, Thailand, Ethiopia. Wouldn’t we be more likely to continue this game if we felt successful instead of overwhelmed? Could we pass certain levels and be rewarded, instead of randomly going through everything obscure? Could we learn one continent at a time? Or, learn more about a country than it’s shape? Maybe we could drag and drop the name into one of five possible spots on the map. If the maps are only of the continent, it would not be as big at least. You are appealing to those who want to learn. Feed us and our numbers will grow. Offer us a map that shows how you want it spelled out. That said, I’m still learning, just not the countries as intended. I think this is a great idea. Like DuoLingo -let’s learn the world. It’s a great big beautiful place with amazing people everywhere!
