Real Time Information

If you have ever used “Free-Now”, Uber or other similar taxi transport apps you would know that customers are able to track the exact whereabouts of the driver in relation to their own locality in real-time. Why wouldn’t the National Transport Authority who made this app put the same tracking technology on every single bus they operate so that rather than making customers dependent on unreliable bus times, One could actually see precisely where the bus is in relation to the stop one is at. For those who might think “Oh that might be expensive for them to implement”.. Well here’s a solution, make it an optional paid feature on the app so that for people who want more accurate information for how far away a bus is relative to where they are could pay €2.99 a month or whatever to get genuine visual real-time bus tracking. Therefore they could either make a profit from it or get enough money to cover the costs of implementing or maintaining the technology on each TFI bus. Having this feature would actually make this app 100 times better. Too bad the bureaucratic head honchos who developed this app have their heads in the sand and it would never occur to them to actually implement a worthwhile feature like this for this app.

This app was designed by a person who has never taken public transport. No information you want such as timetables. The information that is provided is too much and completely useless. It was badly laid out yet the new updated version is even worse. The naming of route ways is badly done and confusing. What can be done? Easier layout and quicker access a design that takes the user into consideration (which should be the first step in any design) as this app has failed to do. Being that this is the only way to view real time information on many services it needs to be better designed as it is not a tool chosen for voluntary use.

This app has left me standing in the rain for a bus that never comes more times than I can count. The information it provides is often completely incorrect, with times to arrival counting down according to the timetable regardless of whether or not the bus is actually due or not, resulting in buses disappearing from the list without arriving or arriving far later than the app would have you believe. Nothing about it is real time and only every now and then does it give the correct information. There are far better and more well-designed apps available to give me the timetabled arrivals, the whole point of this app is supposed to be that it doesn't leave you standing waiting for a bus if it's going to be late/has already passed, something at which this app has failed miserably on too many occasions. Use Moovit instead.
