Bleeper - Active Mobility

It’s worth signing up to their pay as you go if you don’t plan to use them that often. They’re cheap and reliable bikes and comfy enough even for slightly longer than usual journeys. There is currently no pit-stop (pause, while you pop into a shop, etc) but it will bill you correctly if you do lock it and unlock it within the hour but just know that the bike is available to someone else in this way whereby it isn’t when the pit-stop feature was available on the app. Obviously you’ll come across a bike that might have a slow puncture or the gears might skip or the saddle won’t adjust or the handle bars are missing their rubber, but they’re well maintained and it’s very rare. There are many parking places around so I really feel the PAYG option is useful for when you just can’t be bothered walking back home if you’re already out and about or if you’re sitting waiting on a bus that’s delayed (again) or to simply get a little exercise!

While I enjoy the freedom of hiring a bike , the app is a bit glitchy . 1st of all the bike I hired 1st the chain was broken , I advised via Twitter DM to put it out of commission & get my journey refunded , it was thanks. 2nd I went & pit stopped my bike to go into a shop , when I returned pit stop would not unlock my bike , again sent a Twitter DM , eventually my trip was ended remotely , I was parked at a pole & not an official parking area. I was told it was ok via DM to leave it there . I chanced unlocking it to continue my journey, it worked . No official parking spots between Lidl Drumcondra & DCU . So parked at Lidl & walked 20mins. Yesterday my saddle was loose. I parked it & had to inform via Twitter DM to put it out of commission. I then walked to the next BleeperBike , 15 min away , but it was on a pit stop so wasn’t available. The agent told me that there is a bug in the app which you are trying to work around so the pitstop bikes are not shown as available on the app I find the Twitter agent very accommodating to my gripes!

I am so glad I signed up to Bleeper Bikes. They are much more versatile than Dublin Bikes as you are not confined to a rigid parking space. I work in Ballsbridge and Dublin Bikes have no stations near me so Bleeper Bikes are perfect for me. Their customer service is fantastic too😊 Any time I had a small issue they came back to me in record time. Their staff are very efficient and eager to assist. I would highly recommend more people to park outside town and start cycling for the sake of the environment. Less card makes cycling safer for us! 😏
