Olive - Holistic Food Scanner

Just downloaded thinking this would be great because Yuka (5 stars I LOVE) only is for cosmetics…I sign up…and soon I figure out why this app charges, there is a 7 day trial, but it requires card information to even activate. After 7 days your card is automatically charged 69$ for a year plan. This app is a joke. It tries to hook you into a 90 day plan, has you go through customization for your healthy lifestyle..then at the end it says “oh actually..only 7 days are FREE..Oh and not to mention but…you must submit your card intro to even activate those 7 days…”COMPLETE JOKE OF AN APP. We need an app like Yuka, for food. I wouldn’t pay over 5$ a month to have access to information that tells me whether or not what I’m eating depicts my life. I am disappointed. This country is greedy and sad. This app emphasizes that. Not a healthy lifestyle. Half America is in poverty and this app presents itself as “good”??? Just to have you pay another yearly bill? I’m GOOD. This is for certain people..yk the ones who fling their money…the people who have that fund to use. A lot of people don’t. I think this app and company is greedy for charging so much. Terrible.

I’ve been using the Olive app to scan food products, and it’s honestly eye-opening. You just scan a barcode and it quickly breaks down ingredients, showing what’s potentially toxic or problematic and what’s actually clean. It’s helped me realize how many “healthy-looking” foods still contain additives, seed oils, or questionable ingredients. I love that it takes the guesswork out of grocery shopping and makes ingredient labels easy to understand—especially when shopping for kids or trying to support gut health. I’ve already swapped several pantry staples for better alternatives because of this app. If you care about what’s in your food and don’t want to stand in the aisle Googling every ingredient, Olive is 100% worth it.

Ok so this app is amazing! It very easily scans any product and pretty much breaks it down and easy to read and understand. If you bump into a product that has no data, the app will tell you to take a picture of the front of it and ingredients and add it to the database! So why no 5 stars? I gave it 4 stars because the app has one major issue, there are several items that are the same item but have different scores. For example Sparkling Ice has 3 different scores where it’s a 0, 24, and 100. The apps doesn’t tell you if the differences in the score is due to different flavor or a different type of category like water vs lemonade. Another example would be Zevia soda. When I scan it the app tells me it’s a 63 but the alternative the app gives me is a 100 and the two products are the same. Other than that the app is amazing!
