Mezzanine Theater Diary

I have been using the Mezzanine app for a year or two, and it’s totally changed how I track shows. I suggest it to anyone I know who sees more than 2 shows a year!My only wishes for the app are bulk tagging and more automated information. For example, for bulk tagging, I just created new tags called “Musical” and “Play”, and I’d love to be able to apply that tag to a bunch of shows at once rather than go through my entire profile. It would also be great if that were just autopopulated, like locations, or had the stars tagged or things like that (for the major productions, that is). Not sure if either of these are possible but it would add so much value to an app I love so much!

Incredible. Almost addicting, even, to scroll through others’ reviews and your own confirmation emails to find what shows you’ve seen. Five minor gripes and suggestions: Would love to be able to add custom pronouns other than he/him, she/her, or they/them. At least there are options I guess… Would love to be able to scroll through photos if there are multiple on others’ review instead of having to exit the photo and then pick the next. It would also be great if we could add actual DIARY entries about theatre, other than shows that you’ve watched. For example, I could write an entry for today, Sat. Sept. 30, and say, “Today I bought tickets for x and x. I’m so excited to see them! Also, x tour is coming to my town, so I’m going to see that too!”. That would really take the app to another level. Another thing would be the ability to add a bio to your profile. This would honestly just be nice and fun. Lastly, I’d love to be able to mark someone else’ review with something like “I Agree” and “I Don’t Agree”. Thank you for this lovely app! :)

As someone who likes rating and tracking things a lot, and keeping tabs on what I would like to watch in the future, this app is nearly perfect. There’s a nice map showing all the cities that you’ve watched shows in, with graphs showing your distribution of ratings and years in which you’ve watched shows. There’s even a small tracker that shows how many Broadway/West End theaters you have been to out of the total number. The interface is also extremely clean and simple to use, and adding your own productions to your diary is very easy. Each entry has a lot of features you can fill in (date, time, ratings, tags, reviews, etc).A few suggestions:It would be nice to add a show when you first click on the wish list instead of having to scroll all the way down to do so (if you’ve added a lot of stuff like I have).If a user wants to add a very obscure play/musical to their wishlist, they’re unable to manually do so without sending a message to the developer. The option to send a message to the developer should still be there if you think your play should be added to the entire database, but sending a message shouldn’t be required for adding to your own wishlist.Also it would be nice to list the average rating of everything you’ve watched along with the other metrics (goodreads does this). And also the ability to sort your watched plays/musicals by features besides date watched. Such as sorting alphabetically, by date the play was written, etc. More advanced sorting features might be helpful for the wishlist too. Also adding ascending/descending options for sorting.Would also be cool to search for productions in the “Discover” tab and look at its average rating.Still, this app is already very good to use and I’m happy that I finally found something like this.
