Les Amis: Connecting Women

I never thought an app would completely change my life, but Les Amis did. I moved from the U.S. to Barcelona, Spain at 35, knowing almost no one. I joined Les Amis right away hoping to meet a few women, and over 2½ years later every one of my closest friends here is someone I met through this community. We’ve done everything from wine tastings, dinners, pottery classes and cable car rides to celebrating birthdays, weekend plans and just being there for each other through life. Our husbands have even become friends, which makes it even more special. One of the incredible women I met through Les Amis is getting married soon, and I’ll be standing beside her as one of her bridesmaids. If you had told me that when I first downloaded the app, I never would have believed you. If you’re new to a city, or even if you’ve lived there for a while and are hoping to build genuine friendships with other women, I can’t recommend Les Amis enough. It gave me so much more than fun events. It gave me a community that feels like family, and for that I’ll always be grateful.

I like the idea of this app. You are among a bunch of high quality, vetted women. Unfortunately, the high price of this app doesn’t justify a subscription. There aren’t enough events, and I’m pretty sure they have some sort of partnership with Cheeseboat because that’s pretty much all there is in terms of activities. Customer service is nonexistent. The focus to me is mostly on getting women subscribed and paying. The feature to be matched with someone every Monday is flawed because there aren’t enough questions asked to gauge compatibility. For example, my first match was Christian, and I’m an Atheist. When this match didn’t respond, I reached out to customer service. No response. When I got sick and couldn’t make it to a dinner I signed up for, customer service didn’t respond to me. You need to cancel within 72 hours of dinner or you’re out $$$. Respectfully, I will not be continuing with my subscription, and you shouldn’t be joining either.

I’ve been part of the Les Amis community for over two years, and this app has made made connecting with inspiring women around the city even easier and more enjoyable. The events are fantastic, and the features make it simple to find interesting activities and meet new friends who share your interests. The Les Amis team is wonderful and clearly puts a lot of love into creating a great experience. I highly recommend joining the Les Amis community and using this app!
