I’m a gamedev myself, so I like to support other gamedevs making games the way I like to play them. I’m happy to pay for a game, and hate ads in my games. And this game is a fun, no-frills Mahjong experience that plays in 5m and… that’s it. It does exactly what it says it does. Classic Mahjong, pixel graphics, and no ads. It actually gives me a bit of nostalgia playing it. I’ve played 50 games already and I think it’s my new go-to relaxation game. Nicely done, Leon.
When I first downloaded, the tiles looked blurry. The developer had replied that it might’ve been the version of my operating system. I didn’t have a chance to check that because I had deleted the app. After a few iOS updates, I decided to re-download the app and give it another try, and I guess that was the issue, because now it’s crystal clear. The only thing I don’t love is that the game can only be played in landscape mode, which is not very comfortable for my hands. But other than that it’s probably the game that I play the most. I appreciate the variety of game boards and that the developer isn’t data farming.
Exactly what I was looking for! Other mahjong solitaire apps are too easy, barely requiring an ounce of forethought; just hunt, peck, hunt, peck, ad nauseam. On top of being terribly cute, Leon’s Mahjong offers actual puzzles that you *can* mess up by just mindlessly matching. That it also tells you exactly how many occurrences of a tile type to expect allows extra planning. I am currently recovering from hand surgery with limited options for how to spend my time. This has been a real boon, especially in the morning as I drink my coffee and wait for my meds to kick in. Hats off to the developer! I love the inclusion of an avocado tile :)
This is a calm, handcrafted Mahjong solitaire experience, designed to help you unwind. Your quiet moment at the end of the day. Beautifully designed...
