Legacy - Reawakening

The game is amazing with difficult but definitely doable puzzles. It’s just under 9 hours of gameplay for those wondering but I would consider myself a slow player so some may be closer to 6 or 7. Still a long game but I was pleasantly surprised at how long it ended up being since I thought it would be more of an epilogue to the first three in the Legacy series. I think the only thing I would change is having a pinch to zoom feature on the map. It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize there was a zoom feature in the form of buttons in the bottom right corner and I kept thinking to myself “I wish I could zoom out” especially as you unlock more and more rooms and it starts to get busy. I do have to say I love the fast travel feature that includes multiple spots of interest in a single room. While it does make the map slightly more crowded, from a gameplay standpoint I find it to be one of the best choices made for the map given that the user taps/clicks to move rather than using arrow keys, WASD, or an onscreen joystick type of feature. All in all, another great game from David. Can’t wait to see if the next installment will be a continuation of this one or if it’ll be something new. Either one would be great to see but with the ending of this game, I’m personally hoping for a continuation.

Love love LOOOOVE these games! The first one is amazing but they have just kept getting better with every iteration. Yes some puzzles will seem familiar but most are very inventive and definitely make you think more than many puzzle games nowadays. Plus like all games in the series this one is well worth the asking price. Even using the hints these games keep me entertained for several hours or more so much so I have honestly never felt like I didn’t get much more than my $’s worth. So yeah if you enjoy point and click or escape style games these are a must have, right up there with the room series or meridian 157 or the Glitch forever lost games or even the old school mist/riven and Lucas arts games in terms of quality, complexity and replay-ability.

So happy to see this next installment appear in the App Store! The Legacy series is fantastic for those who love escape room-style puzzles. I have no idea how David does it, but with each release he ups the variety and ingenuity of the puzzles. The games are absorbing and challenging without being exhausting or unfair. The hint system is invaluable and works just like you’d want it to, giving broad hints and gradually narrowing them if you still need more help, with no lag or bothersome clicking to get to the next hint. The map works so well that I wish other games would take notes. I am always looking for puzzle games that can match The Room and Myst/Riven and Rusty Lake, and David has carved out his own place with them with the Legacy series. It doesn’t pack the emotional punch of those games, but it doesn’t have to—this is a thoroughly satisfying brain teaser series with a fun adventurous bent.
