Newport Mansions

I found this a very effective tool for touring the ‘cottages’ at Newport. The tours are well-structured; the guidance for moving is clear; there is very good information about each stop on the tour, with particular attention to the things you are actually seeing. I also really liked the approach of having extra material relevant to each room in an easily accessible drop-down section. And, as a fan of The Guilded Age on HBO, I liked that some of those options gave behind the scenes discussion about filming that series, discretely set aside just for those of us who want it.

Spent several mornings & early afternoons visiting these beautiful Guilded Age cottages. Don't miss the free self guided audio tours! My husband and I were transported to another time and way of life. The docents were knowledge about the collections and surrounding areas. Please take the time to see at least (4) of the homes to be able to appreciate the depth and bredth of architectural styles in this living collection of historic homes. We spent the late afternoon & evenings trying restaurants, shops and antique stores. What a wonderful week!

I found the wealth of very interesting information and history to perfect. Enough to teach the history without overwhelming you, but if you want more information there is an additional selection to hear more details and listen to the stories. The Best Audio Tour I have ever used. Loved everything about the audio tour in the most beautiful homes ever built..I highly recommend seeing The Mansions of Newport.
