I have subscribed to and used this app for six years. As a 51-year old man who’s mildly farsighted, I have found the app to be miraculous—if I use it regularly, I can avoid reading glasses without getting a headache. If I stop using it, reading or using a computer or smart phone literally makes me nauseous. So, I keep using the app! The PROBLEM is that periodically, the app will stop accepting my log in for WEEKS AT A TIME (meaning I cannot use the app), even though my subscription is fully paid up and has been for years. When I reach out to support, all I ever get is some baloney about logging out and then back in or about deleting and reinstalling the app. I’m very tech savvy and know how to troubleshoot. Nonetheless, I try these “solutions” each time and what do you know? They fail. Then begins a slow back and forth of emailing where the developer insists all is well and repeats the same stupid instructions. This year alone, I have lost eight weeks of usage because of this nonsense. I even resorted to using this app on an old phone as a work around, because I was getting headaches waiting for a solution from the B.S. tech support. Again, the app is fantastic and unique and the support is nonexistent!!!!!
The app seemed pretty good when I started using it, and I felt like my vision for seeing far-away stuff was improving. I did the free one week trial, and then paid $10 for the one month thingie. I went on the app to do my session the next day, and it wouldn’t let me in. I get stuck on the screen with the GlassesOff logo and a spinning pinwheel thing underneath. For some reason the transaction for the one-month subscription didn’t register (thank goodness) but because I ended up deleting and redownloading the app I lost about a week’s worth of progress. Anyways, I re-downloaded the app and again, it went well for the first week besides the fact that I had to start all over. Then the same thing happened where I was stuck on the screen with the GlassesOff logo and the pinwheel thing underneath. I deleted and reinstalled the app and my progress was deleted. This has happened four times to me in total and it’s super annoying because Im just wasting my time of the program keeps sending me back to the beginning after a week. Thank you for listening to my TED talk.
I am in my mid 40s and had early onset cataracts. I had my lenses replaced with a multifocal lens. I found it very difficult to get use to the lenses. My daughter had vision therapy as a child and it was a success, so I thought I would give this a try. I appreciate that the ap doesn’t work on the eye muscles because me for that isn’t going to change with having artificial lenses. I used this ap right after surgery and it has been a really wonderful tool in adjusting to artificial lenses. Though I know the ap wasn’t designed for artificial lenses, it sure has made my ability to read with mine much better. AND compared to the cost of vision therapy in a doctors office? $10 a month is a drop in the bucket.
