This game is truly exceptional. In my opinion, it’s well worth the cost to purchase the full version of the game. The game play is relaxing and casual, yet the story line is stimulating and thought provoking. The characters that you get to know over time, the seasonal changes that occur, and the situations that develop are all very clever and intriguing. Essentially, you are a bookseller who travels to different locations, selling books of various genres. As you do so, you meet different characters with unique personalities and you try to fulfill their requests. To be honest, this game will especially appeal to book lovers and to those who don’t mind the somewhat tedious task of picking out books that meet the needs of clients. A knowledge of books is really a plus here. It may seem tedious and repetitive at first, but there is a depth here that really doesn’t present itself until you play the game for a while. The more locations you visit and the more characters you interact with, the more the game experience develops. Don’t be hasty; patience will be rewarded. The reason I gave this game four stars instead of five is that it forces the player to participate in various holiday events whether they want to or not. This is not optional for me. For instance, I did not want to participate in the haunted house ghost event, but there was no option to opt out. I find this offensive. I really hope the game developers can alter this. It makes a difference for me. Overall, this is a clever, intelligent, and empathetic game that promotes kindness, unity, and literacy. What an awesome breath of fresh air in the gaming world!
Wonderful game, I own it on steam already but wanted to be able to play on the go. That said.... two main notes for this version: 1. Y'all are hurting your own game sales by making it "free" with an in-app purchase for the full game. No matter how much you clarify it, it's going to be misleading - you'd be better off making it full price to begin with. You should also synchronize the prices, considering it's the full game on every platform. 2. Events aren't showing up in the paper after the first incidence. I've played on PC and know the schedule, but for newcomers, that's going to be an immediate turnoff to getting deeper into the game.
Great indie game-lovely time. I even joined the official discord because I liked the game so much. But then it hit me with the “play 7.99 to continue playing”. And honestly, I have no problem with that but the devs should’ve been upfront about the payment thing from jump and it’s a little crazy to ask for that much when after a few hours of playing there’s not much else in the game that’s new or exciting. Maybe I’m being too much but I don’t think it’s fair to 1. Not be completely transparent that when you download it’s just a demo and 2. You’re paying for nothing new you haven’t experienced already from the preview—just the rest of the content which isn’t really a lot. If they had more updates like MMO, more books, more locations, more NPCS, etc I would pay (for potential) but now I’m conflicted. Maybe I’ve just been living under a rock and should’ve known better but it just seems slimy to move like that. 10/10 in the beginning—currently 4/10 now. Not really cool move.
