As a former candidate for Georgia's 13th Congressional District, former Chief of Staff to a Georgia State Representative, and former appointee in international trade and investment roles with leaders in Dubai and Liberia, being the only person in the Nation appointed to three countries at one time. I recognize the importance of protecting public health through responsible trade this app is an instrument in this space. With growing concerns over food safety and class action lawsuits involving companies such as Gerber, Kellogg's, Post Consumer Brands, Tyson Foods $86.7 million lawsuit, and other major food manufacturers, citizens and government officials alike need reliable information about the products we consume. For example, lawsuits against Gerber have raised concerns about heavy metals in baby food, Kellogg's has faced scrutiny over artificial additives in cereals, Post Consumer Brands has been questioned regarding labeling transparency, and Tyson Foods has dealt with litigation related to product safety and contamination risks. The Bare App provides real-time ingredient information that helps consumers make informed decisions while giving policymakers and diplomats another tool to evaluate food safety and trade issues. Many countries have already restricted or banned certain food additives that remain available elsewhere; for instance, the European Union has banned several artificial food dyes that are still permitted in the United States called Red Dye 3. I highly recommend the Bare App to citizens, elected and appointed officials, and diplomats. Diplomacy starts with trade and we should never trade the citizens safety and health for monetary profits.
