I have been playing this game for a few weeks and it is very good! I have had lots of fun, the mechanics are interesting without being overly complicated. My only issue is I wish the game was a bit more exact with its descriptions. It rounds time oddly and it would be a lot more helpful if it showed hours *and* minutes in timers. Also a break down of how buffs add together would be useful, but not necessary.
This is the first mobile game I’ve truly loved since FarmRPG. Its minimalist occult design and UI make it instantly and effortlessly atmospheric. The instructions too are minimal, which creates a feeling of player agency and an immersive tension that builds as you unlock new game elements. I absolutely love the mechanics of performing rituals, it’s a brilliant game design that contributes to an endlessly satisfying play loop. This game has amazing potential with the possibility of new supply items, research, locations, trinkets and rituals. It’s everything I want in a game and I’d love to see it grow.
All of the complaints/wishlist items I mentioned in my prior review were waiting to be resolved and/or not as big of a deal as I thought - I just needed to update the app and push a little farther. It looks like the final crop growth mana spell got a buff, as I’m now getting 3M per buff on the web vs 300k on iOS (I see an update pending). That was #2 on my updated wishlist. Now I mainly want a button to repeat rituals - gets very tedious on mobile, and the screen bugs out when inputting the growth (Thurible) spell 100x in a row. Much easier on mobile. Would also be nice if instead of time, which really becomes compressed, the scroll upgrade made repeat research levels cheaper also, instead of only faster. A “respec” option would also be nice since scrolls are time-gated and it’s easy to fall in the early trap of going all-in buffing expedition speed. I like the “notes” vibe for rituals and no explanation, but a late game unlock would be cool that shows in detail what each thing does and how it’s multiplied. Oh and an indicator if you’ve found them all, or how many are missing. Current “end game” seems to be pushing crop multi retention, blood pact effectiveness, and getting 4 scrolls to dump in plant sell price every 24 hours. I’m really curious how far the madman lets us push research levels, this was a nice surprise. I really assumed wrongly it would have some fairly cookie cutter limits like 99% but no, I’m now pushing 5 decimal points on grafting.
