This app is honestly a complete disappointment and feels like nothing more than a cash grab disguised as a useful tool. You download it expecting basic features to actually work, only to be immediately hit with a subscription wall that blocks almost everything. It’s ridiculous that even the simplest functions require payment, making the free version practically useless. The app advertises itself as helpful and accessible, but in reality, it locks all meaningful features behind an overpriced subscription that isn’t worth it at all. There are constant prompts pushing you to upgrade, which gets annoying fast and ruins the entire user experience. It feels manipulative, like the app is more focused on squeezing money out of users than actually providing value. There are plenty of other apps out there that offer similar or better features for free or at a much more reasonable price, so there’s really no reason to waste time with this one. Overall, it’s frustrating, misleading, and not worth downloading unless you’re willing to pay for something that should have been free in the first place.

I’ve been using Exposr to scan products and ingredients for my family, and it’s honestly opened my eyes to things I never paid attention to before. The app is super easy to use, informative, and makes ingredient awareness feel simple instead of overwhelming. I love being able to quickly scan products while shopping and make more informed choices. Definitely recommend for parents, wellness-focused families, or anyone wanting to learn more about what’s in their food!

I got this app because I was tired of googling ingredients, and while the in ingredient break down in this app is helpful, it’s far from perfect. I noticed it was marking things as “processed” that aren’t, and was doing so inconsistently. for example, marking “organic cane sugar” as processed in on item and as natural in another. further the scores seem hand-wavey at best in how they’re determined. for example, organic valley ricotta (4 ingredients) gets a score of 50 but butterfinger candy gets a score of 53 (12 ingredients)???whatever the algorithm is that calculates scores should be taken with a grain of salt. As I dug deeper, many of the sources they are citing as to why certain ingredients are bad etc links to articles that are not backed by science and come across more as blog posts sponsored by special interest groups that draw conclusions based on speculations rather than actual science. I think the idea of this app could be wonderful, but as it is, it seems very scientifically unsound, inconsistent, and borderline fearmongery if you fail to look past the initial score provided. not worth the $ until they build a more robust algorithm and system, in my option.
