I joined Casedrops skeptical — I’ve been burned by subscription boxes that show up with six bottles of filler I’d never have picked myself. This is the opposite. You buy what you want, when you want, and the daily drops have become a genuinely fun part of my morning. But the real story is the pricing. Austin Hope Cabernet. One liter. Forty dollars. I had to read it twice. That’s a wine I’d normally think twice about at the shelf price, in a format you almost never see discounted — and it’s not a one-off, it’s the kind of thing that shows up in the feed regularly. I’ve been buying wine for years and I have never seen deals like this anywhere. Delivery was quick and everything arrived in good shape. If you drink decent wine and you’re tired of paying retail markup for it, this pays for itself on the first case.
First of all this is a great idea and for wine lovers who want to be drinking expensive bottles for a discount and explore new bottles it’s great. The initial deals you get when you start is like 3 the first day. That is amazing truly worth the free trial and trying it just for that. After the first day you only get a deal on one wine a day. This is still great. However if you are someone who only likes certain grapes this may not be for you because half the week you will just be waiting for the grapes you like. Now this isn’t the end of the world because the wines are all such a high quality that even if you’ve tried and disliked a certain grape it’s likely you will like/enjoy these more expensive discounted bottles. It hasn’t really been a big issue with me because I like almost anything, but it would be nice to even just have 2 options a day always different grapes to increase your possible success in finding what you like. Overall the founders seem charismatic and to really care about the product so hopefully this already good wine club gets better with time.
I literally downloaded the app and watched the video to understand how it works but because it’s linked to my Apple ID account it automatically meant that I signed up for the three day trial and then was just billed the $70. I absolutely did not click on the link that said I wanted to have a trial membership because as soon as I saw that there was a yearly membership fee. I did nothing else, but the app was on my phone and automatically linked to my payment information. I am so frustrated that every company is using this type of marketing ploy to dupe people into paying even a one time additional fee of now $70 when I had no intention of using it. I am a tech savvy person. I was truly just curious and did not click on something saying yes I want to have a trial membership. The best was: they say there is a grace period if you change your mind within the first 48 hours after billing so in my case, I should be eligible for a refund. They said yes, you’re eligible for a refund, but that refund, as it turns out, is issued in the form of a store credit. So they still keep your $70 and I guess hope that you spend it but it’s also unclear because it says it’s only valid through the end of the billing period but as my account is canceled, what does that mean the 48 hours?
